Preakness 2012 Odds: Zetterholm and Long Shots Who Can Pull off an Upset

All the chatter leading up to the 2012 Preakness is about Bodemeister, I'll Have Another and the favorites, but the long shots are poised to cause a stir on race day.

I'll Have Another was not one of the top-rated horses heading into the Kentucky Derby and three thoroughbreds are ready to record a similar upset at Pimlico.

Zetterholm: 25-1 odds

Zetterholm is one of the most controversial horses in this year's field.

Trainer Richard Dutrow Jr. is facing a 10-year ban from horse racing in New York state for repeated violations.

Zetterholm was also a late addition to the race, as Dutrow was not informed about his horse's inclusion until last Friday.

Fortunately, horses do not feel stress or notice controversy and come race day, Zetterholm will be bolting out of the gate. The thoroughbred has won its last three races and is a serious threat to finish first in Baltimore.

Daddy Nose Best: 16-1 odds

Daddy Nose Best had a disappointing 10th-place finish at the Kentucky Derby, but will look to erase those memories during the Preakness Stakes.

This colt was jockeyed by Garrett Gomez during the Derby, even though Julien Leparoux was cracking the whip during all four of its previous victories.

For the Preakness, Leparoux will be back on the horse who has brought him and trainer Steve Asmussen much success.

With the right handling, this horse has a great shot at a surprising finish at Pimlico.

Teeth of the Dog: 20-1 odds

These odds will look familiar to those who wagered on the Kentucky Derby, as they were the same stakes that I'll Have Another faced at Churchill Downs.

Trainer Michael Matz won the Kentucky Derby with Barbaro in 2006, and will most likely be hoping that Teeth of the Dog can erase the painful memories from Barbaro's tragic fall at the Preakness that year.

This colt is a largely unproven commodity, but has shown well in races leading up to the second leg of the Triple Crown.

Teeth of the Dog will need to have the best race of its career on Saturday, but has the necessary speed to beat out the rest of the field.
