Floyd Mayweather: Ranking Pretty Boy's 10 Most Vicious Knockouts
Floyd Mayweather is more known nowadays for his ring-smarts, speedy counter-punching and business savvy than he is for his devastating knockouts, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have any.
Mayweather's record reads 43 wins, but with 26 knockouts. That means there's some viciousness in this "Pretty Boy." Here's a look at the 10 most vicious of those knockouts.
10. Mayweather vs. Manfredy
1 of 10Angel Manfredy was Floyd Mayweather's seventh fight in 1998 and first defense of his newly-won super featherweight world championship.
Manfredy thought he could pressure Mayweather, but the counters came and changed his mind. During the second round, a stunned Manfredy backs up. A young Mayweather smells blood. A massacre occurs.
9. Mayweather vs. Duran
2 of 10Tony Duran didn't know what he was getting himself into. In just about a minute into the first round, Mayweather dropped Duran with a well-timed right.
Duran got up and walked sideways. The ref went and did his job and showed mercy on the kid.
8. Mayweather vs. Rodriguez
3 of 10Mayweather's work to the body is very underrated. In this fight against Kino Rodriguez, Mayweather dropped Rodriguez with a left to the body in Round 1.
Rodriguez would get up with no intent to continue.
7. Mayweather vs. Philip Ndou
4 of 10Phillip Ndou entered with a record of 31-1 and 30 knockouts. Mayweather would make this his last fight at the lightweight limit before moving up.
He gave an excellent swansong to his days in the division, especially the quadruplet of right hands that sent Ndou crashing to the canvas and signaled his corner to stop the fight.
6. Mayweather vs. Apodaca
5 of 10Mayweather's professional debut showed the young Olympian had a fetish for body shots. Roberto Apodaca unfortunately didn't like them too much.
Apodaca was dropped twice en route to a second-round knockout.
5. Mayweather vs. Cooper
6 of 10Jerry Cooper never had a chance. He was knocked down in brutal fashion twice over the course of the first round. Upon the second knockdown, he got up, but couldn't respond to the referee.
4. Mayweather vs. Ayala
7 of 10Mayweather showed he had one-punch knockout power during his time in the 130-pound division with his fantastic left-hand knockout of Edgar Ayala in Round 2.
3. Mayweather vs. Mitchell
8 of 10Mayweather made his welterweight debut against Sharmba Mitchell and wanted to make an impression.
His six-round thumping of Mitchell sure did the trick, ending everything in Round 6 with a beautifully-timed jab to the body.
2. Mayweather vs. Giepert
9 of 10Bobby Giepert was dropped twice by right hands. The second time, he laid on his side hurt and hopeless. The fight was stopped halfway through the opening round.
1. Mayweather vs. Juuko
10 of 10Floyd Mayweather ended a tough fight in Round 9 with a series of right hands that hurt and then dropped Justin Juuko.
You can almost see the dazed warrior dreaming of bunnies instead of boxing as he laid on his back.
