WWE Over The Limit 2012 Predictions: Chris Jericho's WWE Run Will End in Defeat

Adam WellsMay 18, 2012

Chris Jericho's return to WWE has been a disappointment. He was brought back to work a program with CM Punk during WrestleMania season that would have been the show-stealer. Now, here he is seven weeks after the big show, and everything is going to come to a sad end at Over The Limit.

While there have been rumors about Jericho's WWE contract practically since he came back, it seems like things are finally coming to a head now.

There is an article on WWE.com that wonders what is in store for Jericho if he is unsuccessful in his quest for the world heavyweight championship this Sunday:

When Chris Jericho returned to WWE in January, he did so with much fanfare and a pointed, tantalizing promise: His enigmatic arrival would herald "the end of the world." Now, more than five months later, Jericho may be facing his final days in a WWE ring if he fails to capitalize on his fourth title opportunity in as many pay-per-view events at WWE Over the Limit this Sunday.

"

Admittedly, any article written by WWE should be taken with a grain of salt. But there is something to be said for WWE publicly stating that one of its stars could be done if they don't win a match, especially when there is no stipulation for said performer to leave if they lose.

Considering how Jericho was put into the match, and how little he has been a factor in the build-up to it, I don't think it's going out on a limb to say that he won't be walking away with the title.

Instead, Jericho will just end up walking away after yet another loss and disappointing performance on the pay-per-view stage.

That is really a shame, because Jericho had so much potential when he returned. He was coming off the hottest angle of his career when he previously went away in 2009, but could never come close to recapturing that magic once again.

Perhaps Jericho will come back to do more work for WWE this summer or fall. Maybe he has designs on being one of the best performers in the company. Unfortunately, that doesn't do the fans any good right now.

Take time on Sunday to wish Jericho best in his future endeavors, then start hoping there is a lot more good to come from him if he does come back.
