WWE Rumors: Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan, Brock Lesnar and Friday's Top WWE News

Adam WellsJun 2, 2018

As we approach Over The Limit this Sunday, I can't help but look at the pay-per-view card and wonder why WWE never fills out an entire card before the day of the event.

With only four matches currently scheduled for the telecast and Zack Ryder vs. Kane in an epic clash that no one will watch on YouTube, there is a lot of time left for WWE to fill. What does that say about how much the company cares about these shows and its performers?

WWE is very much coasting on its name alone, because it definitely isn't trying to do anything to get any angles over. It's a shame, too, because, as we all know, there are a lot of talented people working for this company who deserve a lot better than they are getting.

No matter what WWE's rationale is for doing things it does, we will always provide you with fun, exciting commentary on the latest news and notes from behind the scenes.

WWE TEASING THE END OF CHRIS JERICHO

Not that it comes as much of a surprise to anyone who follows the news, but Chris Jericho is not going to be around WWE for much longer. His band Fozzy is scheduled to start touring soon, so he is going to have little time to give to the wrestling business.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Will Jericho return to WWE?

Our Take: While it would be easy to say "yes," the reality is, Jericho has a lot of side projects that he wants to do and wrestling is not necessarily something he needs anymore. It's not like he won't be welcomed back if he does return, but it is not hard to envision a scenario where he goes quietly into the night.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Rock Gods

Jericho's return has been, shall we say, interesting. He has been put in the spotlight several times, and done an admirable job in his matches, yet something has just seemed off this whole time. Perhaps we still hold him to the high standard he set with his previous run, which would be nearly impossible to duplicate.

DANIEL BRYAN WANTS BROCK LESNAR

One of the great things about Daniel Bryan is his ability to work in any situation with any performer. The biggest name in WWE right now is Brock Lesnar, and in an interview Bryan says that he is petitioning to get a match with The Next Big Thing, though he does admit it probably won't happen.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Should WWE acquiesce and give Bryan a match with Lesnar.

Our Take: It's almost too easy, but "YES!" Is Bryan the big draw that WWE wants to put Lesnar up against? No. He is good enough to hang with him in a match and make it an entertaining spectacle, which is all WWE really needs.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Wrestling Vegans

It will be interesting to see what WWE does with Lesnar after his feud with Triple H is over, as there really aren't any other big stars for him to work with. CM Punk might be on the short list, but even he is not a draw like John Cena or Triple H.

JOHN CENA AND JOE MAUER: ONE IN THE SAME

Whenever a popular athlete starts hearing boos, it seems like the popular thing to do is compare them to John Cena. The latest star to get compared to WWE's resident punching bag is Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer, who has struggled to start the season and is hearing it from the home fans.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Is Mauer-Cena a fair comparison?

Our Take: Absolutely not. Besides the fact that the two of them have starred in commercials, there is nothing these two have in common. Mauer was, at one point, one of the best players in his sport. Cena may be the biggest draw in WWE, but no one is defending him as the best wrestler in the business. Plus, Mauer has sideburns.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Inaccurate Comparisons

These people who make these comparisons miss the point. Cena doesn't get booed because he struggles in the ring, or something like that. He gets booed because he is so phony whenever he gets in front of a microphone that no one wants to hear him speak.

RAW IS NITRO

In a move that reeks of WCW near the end of that promotion's life, it has been announced that Raw is going to be three hours long permanently, starting on July 23. Of course, John Cena made sure to tell all his tweeps

"

STARTING Monday Night July 23 @USA_NETWORK WILL BE ADDING A 3RD HOUR TO @WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW - PERMANENTLY. #3hourRaw

"
"— John Cena (@JohnCena) May 17, 2012"

Question on Everybody's Mind: How horrible is this idea?

Our Take: So bad. First, I wonder what USA's rationale for doing this is, because the first hour of three-hour Raws always tank in the ratings. Second, WWE isn't creative enough to fill two hours with good material, let alone three.

Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 Signs Of The Apocalypse

If you want to try and convince someone that this is going to lead to more pushes for new stars with more time to fill, you are more than welcome to do that. But I highly doubt the reason WWE didn't push new stars is because Raw was only two hours long.
