Preakness 2012 Picks: Selections That Are Too Easy To Pass Up
The 2012 Preakness is finally going off in just a few short hours. Do not fret, as there is still plenty of time to get your bets in. The race is set to begin at approximately 6:18 p.m. ET and should be a great one.
It’s always more fun to talk about a Triple Crown event when you have a few extra dollars in your pocket as a result. Let’s take a look at a few horses that should definitely cash tickets when they cross the finish line.
*Odds via Preakness website
Win: Creative Cause – 6/1
This horse had a respectable run at the 2012 Kentucky Derby and ended up taking fifth place, despite being outside for a majority of the race.
With a smaller 11-horse field, Creative Cause has the ability to do some damage.
Jockey Joel Rosario has a lot of experience with this colt and won the Grade 1 Norfolk and G2 San Felipe aboard of him.
Creative Cause is a top horse in the race and if he runs his best, there is a great chance he wins.
Place: Bodemeister – 8/5
Bodemeister’s epic speed to open the Run for the Roses has been much talked about. It’s the main reason why he’s a favorite to take the Preakness Stakes.
However, it has to be worth noting that his finish was terribly slow and the only reason he finished second at Churchill is because no other horse took charge down the stretch besides I’ll Have Another.
If he falters again, and it’s quite possible, Bodemeister will have to settle for another place showing.
Show: Zetterholm – 20/1
This nice long shot comes from a nice line and has been steadily improving each and every race.
Zetterholm is coming off three straight wins and has just as good as chance as any other horse in the Preakness.
The field is wide open and a show bet on Zetterholm will likely pay dividends.
