Vancouver Canucks Prospects Series: RW Pathrik Westerholm

Joseph TrentonJun 7, 2018

Pathrik Westerholm and Ponthus Westerholm are much like the world-famous Henrik and Daniel Sedin brothers. They are Swedish twin brothers who plays professional hockey together in the Swedish Division-2 League team Malmo.

In 2011 NHL draft, Vancouver Canucks general manager Mike Gillis selected Pathrik Westerholm as a 19-year-old in the sixth round, 180th overall.

Based on scouting report provided by Eliteprospects, Pathrik shows more high-end skill and goal-scoring ability between the two twin brothers. Ponthus is often his setup man, and the two have unique chemistry playing on the same line in Malmo.

Recently, Pathrik and Ponthus have signed a new contract with Bofors of Division 2. That is where they will spend the 2012-13 season.

During the time in SuperElit (Div-3), Pathrik scored four goals and eight assists in five games. He also scored nine points in 43 games in Allsvenskan (Div-2).

It is likely that Pathrik will be invited to the Canucks' summer prospects camp again in July. It is unknown at this point if they will also invite Ponthus, but it is very likely they welcome both players over to Vancouver for a few days of activities.

Listed at 6'0'' and 187 lbs, Pathrik is not a big player in today's NHL. He may need to work on getting stronger and bigger if he wants to make progress from his first stint as a Canucks prospect.

All in all, the Canucks are happy to have a second pair of twins in their organization, and look forward to watching these guys develop as professional hockey players.

This is Joseph Trenton reporting from Vancouver.
