Josh Hamilton and 10 MLB Twitter Accounts You Have to Follow
As of Tuesday afternoon at exactly 12:19 p.m., Josh Hamilton officially joined the Twitter world and in less than three hours he already had over 14,000 followers.
This ESPN report from yesterday does not exactly talk up the future of his page, making it seem more like he was forced into creating one and would have other people handling its upkeep for him.
Nonetheless, he is drawing in the followers as everyone wants to know what the best player in baseball right now is up to.
So here is a quick look at the 10 MLB Twitter pages that everyone should follow, including, at least for the time being, one Josh Hamilton.
Josh Hamilton: @thejoshhamilton
1 of 10Josh Hamilton is off to an amazing start to the 2012 season, with a .402 batting average, 18 home runs and 45 RBI line that currently has him as the leader in all three categories.
Following his legendary start that included eight home runs in seven games, Hamilton has taken the leap and joined the Twitter world.
John Axford: @JohnAxford
2 of 10In his short time as the Brewers' closer, Axford has quickly emerged as one of the game's top closers, as he took home NL Rolaids Relief man honors last season with a 46-save, 1.95 ERA season.
He fits the closer mold with his awesome facial hair and his quirky personality, and that carries over to his Twitter account where he is great at keeping his fans entertained.
Ozzie Guillen: @OzzieGuillen
3 of 10The Marlins thought so highly of Guillen and what he could potentially bring to the new-look Marlins as their skipper that they traded the White Sox one of their top prospects to get him.
Never one for having a filter of any sort when it comes to interviews with the press, his Twitter is not much different. You either love him or you hate him, but there is definitely only one Ozzie Guillen out there.
C.J. Wilson: @str8edgeracer
4 of 10Wilson has emerged as one of the best pitchers in baseball since moving from the bullpen to the rotation three seasons ago, and that earned him a $75 million payday this offseason.
He made headlines for his prank against Rangers catcher Mike Napoli when he tweeted his phone number for all to see, and that is what can be expected from Wilson's account—a little bit of everything. He is insightful, funny and a bit out there but certainly worth following.
Brian Wilson: @BrianWilson38
5 of 10Few players in the game today are as colorful as Giants closer Brian Wilson, as he has gone from All-Star closer to one of the sport's most recognizable figures.
His tweets reflect his out-there personality and he is quick to respond and interact with fans. Perhaps more impressive, though, is that his beard has its own Twitter handle @BeardOfBrian, that has over 15,000 followers on its own.
David Price: @DAVIDprice14
6 of 10David Price has quickly gone from 2007 No. 1 draft pick to postseason hero to one of the game's best starting pitchers, and at 26 his best baseball is still ahead of him.
He is a smart guy who is not shy about interacting with fans, but it is his willingness to speak his mind that makes him one of the best.
When the Rays had a chance to clinch a playoff spot at home in 2010 and the fans responded with the fourth-lowest attended game of the season at 12,446 strong, he spoke out, as shown here on the Star Tribune:
"Had a chance to clinch a post season spot tonight with about 10,000 fans in the stands...embarrassing."
Logan Morrison: @LoMoMarlins
7 of 10Still just 24 years old, Morrison is a star in the making for the Marlins and already has 23 home runs and 72 RBI this season under his belt.
A self-proclaimed "twittaholic" on his Twitter page, Morrison borders on obnoxious and rude with some of his tweets, but he is entertaining nonetheless and has over 100,000 followers because of it.
Nick Swisher: @NickSwisher
8 of 10When Nick Swisher first came to the Yankees, there were questions about whether his outgoing and goofy personality would play in the Bronx, but he has been terrific for the Bombers.
He is as active as any athlete on Twitter, constantly interacting with fans, and he is always good for a laugh.
Brandon McCarthy: @BMcCarthy32
9 of 10Once a top prospect in the White Sox organization, McCarthy was a late-bloomer of sorts, as he broke out last season with a 9-win, 3.32 ERA season and is now the ace of the Athletics' staff.
In June of last year, McCarthy wrote a guest column here on Bleacher Report naming the 10 must-follow MLB player accounts, and he proclaimed himself to be No.1, so who am I to disagree him?
Jose Canseco: @JoseCanseco
10 of 10This one may be cheating a little bit since he is no longer an active player, but avid baseball fan or not, Jose Canseco is a must-follow on Twitter.
I recently wrote an article on his 8 Most Ridiculous Tweets of All Time, and the word ridiculous may not do them justice. He is either a comedic genius or legitimately insane, but either way his tweets are internet gold.
