Preakness Stakes 2012: Horses under the Most Pressure to Succeed
The Preakness Stakes will be a very intense race to watch even if you are not a horse racing fan, and with several horses under pressure, the race could be just as exciting as the Kentucky Derby was.
With a lot of prize money and prestige at stake, this year's race at Pimlico should be one for the ages. Let's look at the three horses under the most pressure at The Preakness.
I'll Have Another
The Kentucky Derby winner is under a lot of pressure for obvious reasons. The expectation is to win The Preakness and go onto the Belmont Stakes with a chance for the triple crown, which no horse has done since 1978.
The Preakness will be I'll Have Another's toughest challenge in his triple crown pursuit, so if the horse can win at Pimlico, completing this historic feat might be a strong possibility.
Bodemeister
Bob Baffert's strong horse will look to avenge its loss to at Churchill Downs and defeat the field at Pimlico for a big win.
Bodemeister led for most of the Kentucky Derby but didn't have the stamina to outlast I'll Have Another, who won in the final stretch.
Bodemeister is expected to win the race or at least finish in the top three, which puts a lot of pressure on the jockey. A lot of people will put money on him to win.
Creative Cause
A disappointing fifth place finish at the Kentucky Derby has Creative Cause coming into The Preakness under a lot of pressure to perform well.
There's no reason a horse with this much speed and stamina to finish fifth in a major race. With little experience in major races away from California, Creative Cause might struggle again at Pimlico.
