UFC on Fuel Results: What We Learned from Fabio Maldonado vs. Igor Pokrajac
Light heavyweights Fabio Maldonado and Igor Pokrajac were matched up on the UFC on Fuel main card. The Brazilian Maldonado is known for his technical striking attack, while the Croatian Pokrajac is known for his heavy hands and well-rounded game.
Here's what we learned from the bout.
What We'll Remember About This Fight
The fact that both guys were still standing. Pokrajac survived body shot after body shot from Maldonado, and returned fire with numerous knees from the Thai clinch. The fight had everything you'd expect from a "Fight of the Night."
What We Learned About Maldonado
His chin is something else. He took multiple knees flush to his chin, but kept coming forward to deliver an onslaught of body shots.
What We Learned About Pokrajac
He is force at light heavyweight. Against a more technical opponent, Pokrajac absorbed a lot of punishment, but still kept firing back.
What's Next for Maldonado
He's now lost back-to-back decisions, but was very competitive in both fights. A fight with Stephan Bonnar would be a treat as both fighters can take shots and deliver them.
What's Next for Pokrajac
Now on a three-fight winning streak, Pokrajac needs a step up in competition. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira would be a stiff test for the Croatian fighter.
