John Cena Divorce: Superstar's Personal Turmoil Is Perfect for WWE

Adam WellsMay 15, 2012

WWE never misses an opportunity to capitalize on an employee's personal misfortune That is why the head offices had to be secretly smiling when reports came out last week that John Cena was divorcing his wife of nearly three years.

The Cena divorce was first reported by the Miami Herald, saying that Liz Huberdeau, the soon-to-be ex-wife of the former WWE champion, hired the same divorce lawyer as Hulk Hogan's ex-wife.

Things do not sound like they are going to be amicable between the two if she is hiring someone who dragged Hogan through the ringer. Cena is said to have been miserable over this situation for months.

Now that the word is out there for the world to see, Vince McMahon can use this situation to brainwash his "WWE Universe."

One thing that fans resent Cena for is the way that he is constantly shoved down their throats as this All-American Hero who can enter into any situation, regardless of how dire it may seem, and come out the other side relatively unscathed.

Fans in 2012 don't want to see that because they don't believe it. It is a turn off to see someone win all the time without facing any serious adversity or consequences along the way. It worked for Hulk Hogan 30 years ago, but times have changed. McMahon just doesn't realize that.

So in McMahon's never-ending quest to get the fans to cheer Cena blindly, he has been given the perfect opportunity to garner sympathy for his hero.

Divorce is one of those unfortunate things that has become accepted in this country. By today's standards, it's more shocking to see a marriage last more than a few years than hear about a couple celebrating 25 years together.

Almost everyone has been touched by the bitter pill of divorce at some point in their lives. McMahon surely knows this, and there is going to come a time when he uses this situation to get sympathy for his boy.

And the sad part of it all is, it is going to work. McMahon will exploit a very real, sad situation that is literally making his biggest star miserable. If it will somehow make McMahon money and get the boos directed at Cena to cease, even for one day, he is going to do it.

Just look back at how long McMahon exploited the Eddie Guerrero death for his own selfish gain and tell me that he isn't going to try doing it with Cena. The sad part is, it is probably going to work just the way McMahon wants it to.
