Real Madrid Transfer News: Robin Van Persie Isn't Needed at the Bernabeu
Real Madrid are thinking about making a transfer bid for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie, according to the Mirror, but adding a striker isn't needed for Los Blancos to win the Champions League.
Madrid won La Liga this year but fell short in the Champions League semifinal to German side Bayern Munich after the second leg went into a penalty shootout.
With several quality attacking options up front, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Gonzalo Higuain, the solution to Madrid's inability to make the Champions League final isn't fixing the attack.

Manager Jose Mourinho needs to find some quality defenders in the summer transfer window for the club to improve.
A centre-back should be high on the wish list so Sergio Ramos can play at his normal right-back position and not have to play alongside Pepe. If Mourinho wants to keep Ramos in the middle of the defense, then finding a right-back is a need this summer.
Van Persie is a great player, but there's no need for him at the Bernabeu. Plus, Arsenal will certainly make a strong effort to keep the Dutch star at the Emirates, given how important he is to the club's on- and off-the-pitch success.
The area of the Madrid squad that needs improvement is the back four, not the forward group. To win against Europe's best teams in the Champions League, Madrid must defend better. Scoring isn't a big issue. Mourinho has better ways to spend £25 million in the transfer window.
If Mourinho is going to buy players to help Madrid now and in the future, he needs to purchase young stars with strong defensive skills.
