WWE Monday Night Raw: John Laurinaitis Must Fire Big Show and Attack Triple H

Cardiff WandererMay 31, 2018

John Laurinaitis' slow assent to power has been a tantalizing tale, but the time has come for Mr Laurinaitis to establish himself as the most powerful authority figure on WWE television.

Tonight's Raw is the perfect opportunity to have Mr. Laurinaitis grab overall power and set the agenda for the summer to come.

The big stumbling block preventing John Laurinaitis from exercising total control is WWE CEO Triple H, who is Laurinaitis' boss and arbiter. Triple H's potential presence undermines everything Laurinaitis does, so "The Game" needs to be removed as an obstacle.

Laurinaitis has been able to politically outmaneuver Triple H on several occasions, but this will never be enough for the fans to accept "Big Johnny" as the more powerful figure.

John Laurinaitis must conjure up his followers and proceed to brutally attack Triple H.

"The Game" is one of the most dominant superstars to have ever entered a wrestling ring, so taking him out is a clear statement to the rest of the WWE locker room that the Laurinaitis regime means business.

Showcasing the physical prowess of John Laurinaitis when backed up by his supporting cast is an ideal way to sell Sunday's Over The Limit pay-per-view as well. John Cena awaits Mr Laurinaitis in a match that looks distinctly one-sided if "Big Johnny" fails to add significant strength to his corner.

The other undermining force that has reduced John Laurinaitis' effectiveness as a authoritative heel is the mocking of his voice. It is critical that Laurinaitis stamps down on these sarcastic impressions in the most draconian fashion.

This means firing Big Show.

Few men in the WWE locker room have the experience or the titles that Big Show has possessed, so his demise would send shock waves through the roster. Such a move might even inspire some wrestlers to ally themselves with the Raw and Smackdown general manager.

More importantly, the top stars of the WWE will have to take notice of the boss who they have generally disregarded over the last few months. No one can fight the system if they are not part of the system.

These two moves might seem very brash for just one show, but the importance of having one showcase moment cannot be underestimated either. Moments like Vince McMahon's Bret screwed Bret speech or Stone Cold Steve Austin's 3:16 declaration are remembered forever and set the tone for what came next.

John Laurinaitis is in a position where he could gain that spark of impetus from one night of positive booking.

The WWE is more likely to go for a less radical approach. The measured development of the Laurinaitis character has been successful, so turning away from that strategy is a risky proposition.

Removing the safety net of Triple H is also a difficult decision as the WWE can guarantee a performance from "The Game" at any time.

However, John Laurinaitis has been on WWE television for the best part of a year. If the WWE believes Laurinaitis is capable of making a run as a suffocating heel overlord, then it must happen sooner rather than later.

Tonight will be one of the few naturally occurring opportunities where Laurinaitis can transition to autocratic powerhouse with the result being both shocking and logical. The WWE must pull the trigger on the era of Laurinaitis or he will be another missed opportunity in the afterthought of failed storylines.
