WWE: Should Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger Be a Full-Time Tag Team?

At Over the Limit 2012, WWE Tag Team Champions, R-Truth and Kofi Kingston will face sometimes tag team, Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger.

With the WWE tag team division in danger of fading away completely, should Ziggler and Swagger be a permanent pairing?

Argument For

Ziggler and Swagger have history as allies as well as animosity.  They are not two random men thrown together like so many other teams.

As annoying as I find Vickie Guerrero, she does act as the glue between them.

Both men are talented mat wrestlers, with Swagger providing more power and Ziggler bringing in the pizazz.

The tag division needs as much talent as it can get and having future megastar Ziggler would propel its legitimacy and increase fan interest.  

Putting Ziggler and Swagger together full time shows a commitment to the division.

They need a catchier name, but Ziggler and Swagger could be the perfect foils for Kingston and Truth as well as the perfect team to put the Usos over eventually.

Argument Against

Ziggler is too big of a star, too established to be a part of such an unnurtured division.  He will held back by Swagger and by the lack of prestige WWE tag teams now have.   

Certainly main-event talent has graced the tag team division, but this is a different era.  Steve Austin and Triple H and the Rock and Sock Connection wrestled during a time when the tag team championship scene was superior to what it is today.

The way it stands, Ziggler will be taking a step down. 

Instead of pursuing CM Punk's WWE Championship, he'd be left off TV and pay-per-views too often. Instead of winning the Money in the Bank or Royal Rumble, he'll end up like Primo or Epico, stuck performing on the WrestleMania pre-show.

And with the previously mentioned examples, the two partners brought the same level of star power.   

Despite being a former world champ, Swagger is not talented or charismatic enough to be in Ziggler's league.

A Ziggler and Swagger team would have been better suited for the Show Off at an earlier point in his career.

Verdict

Unless WWE is committed to reviving the tag team division, the Ziggler and Swagger combo will be a waste.

Should we see the tag belts defended more often and more prominently, Ziggler's skills would be a welcome addition.

If things stay the way they are, Ziggler will be better off climbing up the card.  

Zig Swag (let's hope that doesn't become their name) will likely continue to be a go-to fill-in team while intriguing teams like Tyler Reks and Curtis Hawkins or the Usos will unfortunately be left to a fate of performing on Superstars and various dark matches.
