What to Watch This Weekend: Lakers' Game 7, EPL Finish and More Must-See Events

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

The Lakers are on life support, a soccer craze is washing over the nation and the Stanley Cup playoffs are really heating up.

It's time to set your schedules and call off Sunday chores, including any and all weekly showers. If you want to know the most pertinent of sporting events, you have come to the right place.

All Times are Eastern (Unless you are in the east, then they are just times)

NBA Playoff Action

After a few months spent watching the first round, we will finally get some closure. We even have the start of the second round to watch in some cases. Who knows, by June we may actually have a Finals to watch.

Saturday, May 12th

Philadelphia 76ers at Boston Celtics - 8:00 p.m. - TNT

Millions around the world will be amazed by a game that will end with a score of 72-68. Start popping your popcorn now.

Denver Nuggets at LA Lakers - 10:30 p.m. - TNT

Pau Gasol might cry, Kobe Bryant could still have explosive poop syndrome and the Nuggets may embarrass the Lakers into the offseason. Of course, the Lakers could also win which I am perfectly fine with.

Sunday, May 13th

LA Clippers at Memphis Grizzlies - 1:00 p.m. - ABC

If the Clippers win on Friday, this will be a game 1 matchup with the Spurs on Sunday afternoon. If not, it's a game 7 that will feature more flops than Vlade Divac in a bouncy castle.

Indiana Pacers at Miami Heat - 3:30 - ABC

The Heat have the finals gift wrapped with a little bow. If they are to fall, the Pacers are the best possible opportunity to see it happen. I doubt it though.

Stanley Cup Playoffs

I know that hockey features a stick and puck. With that, I bring you these matches.

Washington Capitals at NY Rangers - 7:30 p.m. - NBCSN

There is nothing better than a game 7 and hardly a better playoff in sport than the NHL postseason. Except for really fresh donuts, oh, and reruns of Step by Step

Los Angeles Kings at Phoenix Coyotes - 8:00 p.m. - NBCSN

The No. 8 seed magicians get back to action against the Coyotes. I will take the team with Jonathan Quick. Not because he is the saving grace of the season, but because he has the best name in sports.

Premiership Close

The EPL season comes to a close and ESPN is getting in on the action. Seriously, you soccer haters can cry about it, but nobody will be listening.

Manchester City vs. Queens Park Rangers - 10:00 a.m. - ESPN2/ESPN3

Start your day off with a beer and some footie, because it's socially acceptable to drink in the morning if there are sports on.

You can lift your glasses to the likely demise of Manchester United as City needs but a win on Saturday for domestic glory.

City can close out the title at home, and QPR may be relegated to the dark recesses of the Championship.

The weekend is chockablock full of hard-hitting action, meaning there is no reason to ever leave the couch. Hooray for lethargy.
