Serena Williams Channels Inner Nicki Minaj in New Rap Single

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

Serena Williams dug deep to deliver a hit single that would dazzle the ears as much as her form dazzles the eyes on the tennis court. After hearing her rap song, I have to say, not so much.

Oops, my bad and I don't know what I was thinking should be the next to come out of Williams' mouth because I am not feeling her hip-hop swagger.

TMZ gets a hold of the tennis star laying down a one-minute track that revolves around how she is awesome and a complete baller, stuff that is fairly revolutionary for the genre.

As you can plainly hear, Williams has some skills, but not many. I am not here to say this is the worst thing that any athlete has ever done outside their respective sports. Shaq takes that accolade with Kazaam.

The song, for the most part, is mediocre. That's my problem with athletes taking a stab at songs and then getting clowned when it's not the next club hit.

Stop trying.

For those with a hankering for the written word and the prose from this epic rap, Sarah Devlin at SportsGrid has the lyrics for you to go over.

Here are some of my favorites:

"

Wait a minute now
Wait a minute now
Wait a minute now

"

The fact that this song is merely a minute long is not lost on me.

"

I ball hard, no tennis racket
I can’t see these haters through my Gucci glasses

"

From the start we can see that Williams took this rhyme from the Book of Acceptable Rap Cliches. I believe you can get this at any Barnes & Noble or Pitbull song.

"

I make a lot of money but that ain’t your business
And you can tell the people I said this

"

Williams pats herself on the back for the extreme nature of her controversy. OMG, she just went to her bank account.

"

I cook the track up like a frozen pizza

"

Okay, I actually like this one because it reminds me of frozen pizza, which reminds me of french bread pizza, which in turn makes me smile.

I could be wrong though.

This could in fact be the best thing to ever happen to rap music, and I would love to hear your opinion on it.

Also, follow me on Twitter and make your day.
