The Doctor's WWE SmackDown Recap: The 131 Things We Learned, Loved and Hated

The Doctor Chris MuellerMay 11, 2012

I wanted to start off by letting everyone know that there will not be a recap list for next Friday's SmackDown.

I will be standing up in my close friend Jason's wedding and all the groomsmen and I are taking a little weekend vacation with Jason to a cabin near Wisconsin Dells for a bachelor party weekend of gambling, golf and fun.

I will try to do a recap list for Over the Limit, but it all depends on when we get back that Sunday as to whether or not I will be able to do it.

Awhile back I wrote my first recap list as something random to do as a different means of recapping an event. The readers here at Bleacher Report encouraged me to do them for more events. Eventually, it became a biweekly column with one for each PPV.

I can't say thank you enough to the people who come here each week to read the ludicrous things I come up with and take the time to comment. I am working on something special for you guys as a way to say, thank you.

Until I get everything worked out, I cannot reveal any details, but I think it is something everyone will be really excited about. It will go way beyond simply giving shout-outs to the occasional winner of a prediction contest.

I truly appreciate my loyal readers but for those of you who are new, each week I recap SmackDown with a long list.

The entries are made up of equal parts humor, recap, play-by-play, revelations, speculations, questions, answers and anything else I notice during the show. I sometimes comment on commercials too, just because I get bored during them.

Every week, I put in a little game or two to make things a little more fun. I have to give a quick shout out to Harry Longabaugh for correctly identifying every Marvel reference I put into Monday's recap.

This week I decided to bring back the nickname game in honor of the ridiculous teal/aqua colored attire Darren Young and Titus O'Neill wore in tonight's match. If you have a tag team nickname for them based on aqua/teal colors please leave it in the comments section.

I try and interject some fun into these lists, so I hope you have fun reading this week's list of the 131 things we learned, loved and hated from the show.

1. The show opens with a recap of the tag team match from Raw that I missed due to a power outage.
2. I love that Randy Orton is still being portrayed as someone who will attack a baby face at the drop of a hat.
3. Sheamus is out for the first match of the night.
4. I am pulling for Orton in the Fatal 4 Way match. What about you guys?
5. I didn't even realize that Alberto Del Rio didn't come out in a car until Booker pointed it out.
6. I wonder if that part of his gimmick is dead.
7. Chris Jericho and Randy Orton start the match out.
8. Orton and Sheamus already have some tension as Orton tags Sheamus in.
9. This will probably end in one of them attacking the other in some way.
10. Del Rio comes in and starts taking it to Orton.
11. Quick tags and back and forth offense have made this a decent match in just the first few minutes.
12. That's what happens when you have four pros in the ring. This is why tag team wrestling could be something special if anybody in "creative" actually tried.
13. Sheamus and Jericho are down in the ring and they both make the tag.
14. Orton gets the hot tag and takes it to Jericho with a series of signature moves.
15. Orton misses the RKO but hits a nice standing dropkick on Jericho for a near fall.
16. The ref calls for the bell after all four men start brawling in the ring.
17. Orton has Del Rio down and Sheamus is pounding on Jericho.
18. Sheamus clotheslines Jericho over the top rope and Orton does the same to Del Rio on the barricade.
19. Damn. We go to commercial and neither of the faces hit each other.
20. Ugh. Eve tweets out something about how the tag team match ended bad and now there will be two singles matches tonight.
21. Did we seriously have to do that WWE? Why not just have her come out and say that?
22. I think a hot Diva would be better for viewership than a Twitter graphic, but maybe I am out of touch with what people want.
23. AJ is out next for a match with Kaitlyn.
24. Both women look hesitant about that match.
25. Michael Cole actually references the Chick Busters. Nice.

26. I miss the Dude Busters. Seriously, they were kind of funny.
27. The beginning of this match looks like a clip from Teen Mom that Joel McHale always plays on The Soup. AJ is a lot less trashy though.
28. AJ goes crazy on Kaitlyn, much like how she did on Natalya.
29. Booker seems to be enjoying this a little too much.
30. AJ wins with a nice running knee to Kaitlyn's head. She's been watching tapes of Darren Matthews, apparently.
31. Speaking of William Regal, his old protege, Daniel Bryan, comes out and gets in the ring with a huge grin on his face.
32. Bryan says he was impressed with AJ's ruthlessness with her own best friend.
33. He says he sees her in a new way now, and he is ready to move on.
34. AJ looks happy until Bryan says he is looking forward to moving on...to Kaitlyn.
35. Holy Crap! You better run like hell, Bryan. I have seen that look in a woman's eyes before and nothing good can come of it.
36. I would put money on AJ having some kind of impact in Bryan's WWE Championship match.
37. Bryan is still in the ring yelling, "Yes" when we come back from commercial. Big Show comes out to face him.
38. Show starts off strong with strikes.
39. Daniel Bryan takes out Big Show's knee and puts on the Yes Lock.
40. John Laurinaitis pulls some BS and calls for the bell, declaring Daniel Bryan the winner.
41. JL asks Big Show if it was funny when he made fun of his voice on Monday and Big Show says no.
42. Big Show looks like Giant Gonzalez did in that episode of Baywatch when that jerk broke his wooden pelican.
43. JL says Big Show will be apologizing on Monday Night Raw in front of everyone.
44. Johnny Ace also says he will revolutionize the WWE when he beats John Cena at Over the Limit.
45. Heath Slater is in the ring with a mic when we return making fun of Ryback.
46. Am I the only one who thought the whole segment with Slater talking was really uncomfortable?
47. The crowd was totally dead and he did not seem confident in what he was saying at all.
48. Someone should make a sign that says "Goldberg stole RVD's singlet."
49. I can hear a Goldberg chant in the background. I am a little surprised WWE isn't editing that out.
50. Ryback is destroying Heath Slater right away.

51. That powerslam Ryback hit was nasty looking.
52. I have decided that Ryback's finisher sucks. It does not have the impact someone like him should have in a finisher.
53. That spinning powerslam move should be his finisher. It had more impact and looked way nastier than just falling backwards with an opponent on your shoulders.
54. Ryback won, of course.
55. Heath Slater is the "new" Steve Lombardi, except not as cool.
56. Teddy Long is in the ring introducing Alex Riley.
57. Remember when Riley was facing main eventers?
58. Antonio Cesaro is out with Aksana, who has a bit of a new look with that red jacket and unique ponytail. I like it, but I am going to miss that saxophone playing every time she entered a room.
59. Teddy's intro for Cesaro was hilarious.
60. Cesaro hit s player's boot on Riley very early on to really get the advantage.
61. Whats with grabbing the ear, Cesaro?
62. Cesaro hits his finisher to win the match.
63. Cesaro and Aksana make out in front of Teddy again.
64. I still hate Cesaro's music. It's like a ripoff of Chelsea Dagger. Maybe that's the point.
65. I like the Make-A-Wish video they showed with Cena speaking over it.
66. I really admire WWE and the superstars for doing this stuff regularly.
67. Orton is out after the commercial for his match with Alberto Del Rio.
68. Orton hits a slingshot on Del Rio while Del Rio was under the bottom rope and he didn't have his arms under the rope so his neck actually hit the rope pretty hard.
69. Ricardo Rodriguez looked a little nervous after that move, but Del Rio seems fine.
70. Orton is the one with the control most of the match, but Del Rio is getting in some offense, too.
71. Del Rio has one of the most fluid looking enziguri kicks in the business.
72. Del RIo hits a few moves on Orton's arm as he sets up for the cross-arm breaker.
73. Orton avoids it and ends up hitting his rope-hung DDT on Del Rio.
74. Ricky Ricardo climbs up to the top rope and dives into an RKO.
75. The ref calls for the bell and Del Rio puts Orton in the cross-arm breaker.

76. I guess Orton won by DQ but Del RIo got the better of Orton in the end.
77. WWE hypes the WrestleMania 28 DVD with the Hall of Fame ceremony being included.
78. Little Jimmy and The Tag Team Champions are out for R-Truth's match.
79. Vickie is on the ramp to bring out Jack Swagger as Truth's opponent.
80. Dolph Ziggler is following to support his teammate.
81. I am really liking that whenever Swagger or Ziggler accompany each other for a match that instead of wearing their ring gear they wear a suit.
82. I hate when people who are not wrestling are wearing their gear for no reason.
83. Truth takes control early on.
84. Epico, Primo, A.W., Rosa and Mason Ryan are all watching that match on a monitor.
85. I thought Mason Ryan was going to be Ziggler's new bodyguard after a report I read last week. Now he is with their rivals?
86. Ziggler pulls Truth off Swagger to save the match and Kofi takes him out.
87. The ref was looking right at Ziggler when he took a shot at Truth and didn't call the match.
88. Swagger puts Truth down outside the ring and rolls him back in, but Truth ends up hitting his finisher after Kofi hit Swagger with a kick while the ref wasn't looking.
89. We get a replay of the John Cena interview from Monday. Another segment I missed from the power outage I had.
90. Santino is out next. Ryder is his partner in another tag-team match.
91. Titus O'Neill and Darren Young are their opponents.
92. So is the US Champion about to job to the new tag team on the block?
93. Why does Darren Young wear such huge knee pads?
94. Since O'Neill and Young are wearing teal/aqua colored attire I think I will have to bring the nickname game back for a one-time appearance.
95. The game will be coming up with a tag-team name for O'Neill and Young involving their teal/aqua colored attire.
96. I am going with "The Aqua Marines." Leave your suggestions in the comments section below, and I will pick some of the best to feature in a poll on Monday's recap.
97. Darren Young takes out Santino outside the ring, and Booker makes a reference to the movie The Blind Side. Booker never ceases to amaze me.
98. After nearly killing Yoshi Tatsu with that sloppy finisher, it looks like they have come up with something new to finish off their opponents.
99. Ryder and Santino just jobbed to these two goofs?
100. YES! Damien Sandow is being interviewed by Matt Striker backstage.

101. Sandow's dig at Striker's old gimmick as a teacher was awesome.
102. I cant put my finger on what it is specifically, but I freakin' love Sandow's promos.
103. This guy is going places fast if WWE keeps putting him in front of a mic and a camera.
104. Excellent. Cameron and Naomi are out next. Oh, and Brodus Clay is with them, too.
105. I do like Brodus, but I want to see him have a feud with someone for more than two weeks.
106. Hunico and Camacho are out, but Hunico can face Clay.
107. They attack Clay before the match and do a little damage.
108. Clay actually looks happy as he recovers in the corner. A little bit "sadistic" might actually help Clay's character.
109. The bell rings and Clay screams at Hunico to attack him more.
110. Clay gets intense as he takes Camacho out on the apron.
111. Clay hits his finisher on Hunico for the win.
112. Having Clay go crazy there for a second makes me a little more interested in this character again.
113. If he is built up as more than just a fun-loving dancing machine then this could actually go somewhere.
114. A recap of Triple H getting his arm broken and Paul Heyman announcing Lesnar's quitting are shown.
115. Chris Jericho is out to face Sheamus in what should be the final match of the night.
116. Cole mentions that Booker should check out WWE magazine so he can read about Y2J's jacket. Booker's response of "Man, I don't care about that jacket." was delivered with so much seriousness that I had to laugh a bit.
117. Sheamus and Jericho exchange offense before we go to an early commercial.
118. Sheamus is in control of Jericho when we return from the break.
119. Jericho comes back and puts on The Walls of Jericho.
120. Sheamus makes it to the rope to break the hold.
121. Del Rio comes down and takes out Jericho before putting the cross-arm breaker on Sheamus.
122. Orton runs in and starts unloading on Del Rio.
123. Sheamus shoves Orton off so he can hit Del Rio.
124. The two argue before as Jericho comes in and hits the codebreaker on Del Rio.
125. The way Jericho just looked at Orton and Sheamus and then decided to just leave was kind of funny.

126. Del Rio gets up and gets hit with a RKO.
127. Del Rio gets up again and gets a Brogue Kick from Sheamus.
128. The show goes off the air with Sheamus and Orton staring each other down.
129. For a show with three whole matches devoted to one feud, WWE certainly covered a lot of ground tonight.
130. Damien Sandow is gold on the mic and should be pushed right off the bat.
131. AJ and Clay showing their crazy sides tonight was a nice addition to their characters.

Thanks for reading and feel free to share your thoughts and additions to the list below.
