Boston Celtics Video: Watch Kevin Garnett Blast Hawks Owner in Press Conference
Kevin Garnett has always been one to make his mind known.
After the "aging" Boston Celtics knocked the Atlanta Hawks out of the 2012 NBA playoffs on Thursday, Garnett gave the media an earful at the postgame press conference.
On Michael Gearon Jr., Hawks minority owner: "Thank you to their owner, for giving me the extra gas. Next time he opens his mouth, know what [you're] talking about."
On questions about his age, to the media: "Some of you are old. Some of you are 40, 50. Some of you are losing your hair."
Leave it to Garnett to shut everybody up. He is, of course, referring to Gearon's recent statements referring to the Celtics as "old guys," and calling Garnett the "dirtiest player in the league."
The 14-time All-Star and NBA champion made a move to center this season to help the Celtics in the interior. The result? He averaged 18.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.3 steals while shooting 50 percent from the floor against the Hawks in the opening round.
The Celtics may be old and they have dealt with some player-coach turmoil this season, but the fact of the matter is they are still a veteran team. And, sometimes, veteran teams exceed expectations.
The Celtics certainly didn't dominate the Hawks in the six-game series, but they were the more poised and consistent team, and that can work wonders in the postseason.
In the opening round against the Hawks, the Celtics made a statement.
And then KG made a few more.
