Preakness Odds 2012: Contenders with Odds You Can't Beat

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

After an exciting Kentucky Derby that saw I'll Have Another edge Bodemeister at the finish, our speculation has been confirmed: There are a slew of contenders this year.

The next big race is the Preakness Stakes, scheduled for May 19. As the second leg of the Triple Crown, contenders are already gearing up to make a run at glory.

The following horses may not be favorites, but it's worth taking a chance on them based on their odds (via allhorseracing.com).

3. Hansen (8/1)

Hansen finished a disappointing ninth at the Kentucky Derby, despite having good post position, but I still like him this year. In seven career starts, he's won four times and placed second twice. He has three top-two finishes this year, including a victory in the Gotham Stakes.

2. Went the Day Well (8/1)

Went the Day Well already has two victories this year, at Gulfstream Park and in the Vinery Racing Special Stakes. When he placed fourth at the Kentucky Derby, despite 30-1 odds, he officially planted himself as a dark horse in the Preakness. He's racing really well this year and has a shot to surprise at Pimlico.

1. Creative Cause (8/1)

Creative Cause is one of the most consistent horses this year, but does he have enough to win a Triple Crown race? He has four top-five finishes this year, including at the Kentucky Derby, but he hasn't had the same success as last year. I still like him, however, and I wouldn't be surprised if he won the 2012 Preakness Stakes.
