NBA Playoffs 2012: Why Grizzlies Will Complete Epic Comeback vs. Clippers

Nicholas GossJun 1, 2018

The Memphis Grizzlies will complete their series comeback against the Los Angeles Clippers because they are the better team and a resilient squad.

In last year's playoffs, the Grizzlies showed amazing character and resiliency to upset the No. 1 seed San Antonio Spurs and then nearly upset the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games before falling just short in the Western Conference semifinals.

Those battles have helped them this year against an inexperienced, and now injury affected, Clippers team.

After spraining his left knee in Game 5, Clippers power forward Blake Griffin could be banged up in Game 6, which could obviously pose a real problem for LA. Star point guard Chris Paul also suffered a strained right hip flexor in Memphis, and that could bother him in Game 6 as well.

The Grizzlies dominated the Clippers in the paint, and their frontcourt severely outplayed their counterparts on offense during Game 5.

Memphis outrebounded Los Angeles 42-35 on Wednesday night, and their frontcourt outscored the Clippers' 56-24.

With Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph in the paint, the Grizzlies have a tremendous advantage in the frontcourt that will carry them past the Clippers. As such, if the Clippers cannot get more production out of their big men, then this series could get away from Vinny Del Negro's crew in a hurry.

Los Angeles not only has a disadvantage in the frontcourt, unlike Memphis, they don't have a lot of experience in high pressure playoff games.

With Game 6 in Los Angeles, the Grizzlies could certainly defeat the Clippers with another fine performance and take the series decider back to the FedExForum.

After beating the Clippers in Game 5 without their best shooting performance, and not hitting a single three-point shot, the Grizzlies will go into the Staples Center and defeat a beat up Clippers team on the road, then close out the series at home in Game 7.

The Grizzlies are a resilient, hard-working team that will be a real challenge for the Clippers for the remainder of the series.

Memphis was a better team coming into this series, and they will continue to prove they are superior to the Clippers over the final two games.
