Adonal Foyle Denies Anonymous Report on Interview for Orlando Magic GM Job
Jarrod Rudolph of Real GM effectively broke the Dwight Howard signing story when he got the big guy on record, pledging another year to Orlando. It was an impressive get, and a powerful demonstration of how "on record" can trump off-record speculation.
Today, Rudolph reported via Twitter:
"Sources say Orlando Magic have interviewed Adonal Foyle, Director of Player Development, for General Manager position.
"
That would mean Foyle is gunning for Otis Smith's current job with the team. Unlike the Howard story, this one was attributed to anonymous "sources." While I am not calling Rudolph a liar, the snippet did not entirely make sense to me. Foyle already works for and travels with the team. They see him everyday. Why would an interview be required?
Hours later, Adonal shot back, over Twitter:
"Let me be abundantly clear I have never been interviewed for a GM job with the Orlando Magic. Further Otis is my friend and mentor and I would never disrespect him in this manner. As Dir. of Player Dev - I have lots of work to do yet.
"
The Orlando Magic never cease to confuse, generate news.
