Brock Lesnar: Controversial Figure Emerges as WWE's Ultimate Villain

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

You could see it coming when Brock Lesnar stepped back into the ring and blindsided John Cena in front of everybody at Monday Night Raw on April 2.

From there it got worse. Lesnar would proceed to bust Cena's lip the next week, culminating in him breaking Triple H's arm. In just a month, Lesnar has become the WWE's ultimate villain.

On Monday night, Lesnar's representative, Paul Heyman, announced that Lesnar would be quitting the WWE because he didn't feel he was getting the respect he deserved. He was the youngest WWE unified champion, he held UFC’s undisputed heavyweight championship, he has a NCAA Division I wrestling championship belt, and so on and so forth.

Keep in mind, most of the wrestling world already feels as if Lesnar thinks he's above everyone else, including the WWE, and his anti-establishment stance has gotten old and aggravating. Lesnar was already a villain before Monday's announcement.

Lesnar will return to the ring again (his real retirement wouldn't be announced on live TV like that), and he'll have just what he wants when he returns: a wealth of angry wrestling fans hoping for him to fall. If he can continue winning upon his return, he's going to stir up the wrestling world, and that's been his plan all along. Lesnar change his ways? Never. He'd rather become a villain than do that.

People will boo when Lesnar returns. They will put up insulting signs. They will do everything in their power to make Lesnar feel unwanted. But the reality is, this only gets him going. He will egg it on like he always does and probably do something shady once again. It's in his nature and it's the reason why he will always be remembered in the WWE, for better or for worse.
