Texas A&M Football: Latest News, Injuries and Team Updates

Texas A&M should be very successful in its first season in the SEC. They have a great head coach in Kevin Sumlin, they are bringing in a loaded recruiting class and are returning most of the starters from last year.

But before the Aggies hit the field for fall camp, they'll take the next couple of months off and try to stay out of the spotlight.

Bill Byrne Retires

Bill Byrne was hired in 2002 as the athletic director of Texas A&M and will retire a little short of 10 years on the job. The Aggies have experienced mediocre success under Byrne, as they have failed to reach a BCS bowl game or win a conference title since he's been hired.

Byrne received a lot of heat least year when it was announced the school was leaving the Big 12 for the SEC and putting an end to most of their long-time Big 12 rivalries.

Aggies Dominating Recruiting

Along with the Aggies bringing back the majority of last year's starters, they also have a Top-25 recruiting class coming in. And although national signing day isn't until next year, Texas A&M has already landed 15 top recruits for the 2013 class. It's safe to say that this program is in good hands and great things are to come.

Aggies Not Ranked in New ESPN Poll

Despite returning nearly every starter from last year and bringing in a solid head coach in Kevin Sumlin, the Aggies are not ranked in the new ESPN preseason poll released last week. Some of the teams that got the nod over the Aggies include Boise State, Texas, Florida and Oklahoma State.
