Liverpool vs Chelsea: FA Cup Win Is Huge Step for Roberto Di Matteo

Chelsea have won the FA Cup four times in the past six seasons, but their win over rivals Liverpool Saturday may have been the most impressive.

The fact that Roberto Di Matteo inherited a team rife with inconsistency and turmoil little more than two months ago that are now FA Cup winners speaks for itself.

And he's not done yet.

The caretaker manager has the Blues in the UEFA Champions League final in less than two weeks' time and could be the first Chelsea boss to ever win that title.

In Chelsea's long and storied history, they've been to the Champions League final only once and came up short on penalties against Manchester United.

They won't have to beat an English Premier League side this time around, but they will have to defeat Bayern Munich in their home stadium.

No team has had the luxury of playing in the Champions League final ay home before—a fitting opportunity as Chelsea attempts to win their first title.

Di Matteo has done a sensational job with this club and should eventually see the caretaker title removed from his job description. He's earned that much in leading the Blues to the FA Cup.

It is just a start though, the beginning of what should be a good marriage between club and manager.

Chelsea have had trouble keeping a manger since Jose Mourinho's run game to an end. Carlo Ancelotti had success winning the Premier League, Community Shield and an FA Cup during his run, but Mourinho won six trophies during his time.

In less than a full season, Di Matteo has an opportunity to earn two trophies, and he's proving to be quite a manager.

Don't be surprised at all if winning becomes something of a habit for Chelsea and their manager.
