NBA Draft 2012: 2 Shocking Picks No One Will See Coming
The 2012 NBA Draft will be full of shocking surprises. Teams like Chicago, Portland and Cleveland could shake up the draft; every team evaluates players differently so many picks will look like head-scratchers on draft day. However, many of those players will go on to become stars!
So, which teams will make draft picks that no one will see coming?
Chicago Bulls Will Trade Up and Select Bradley Beal, Florida Shooting Guard
1 of 2The Chicago Bulls are about to be eliminated from the NBA playoffs and it's because of two critical factors: injuries and lack of offensive creation and shooting.
The injuries will solve themselves over time, but there is only one way for Chicago to fix its back-court ball movement and scoring problem: draft a great young shooting guard.
Of course, the Bulls will have a very low pick and the top two shooting guards, Austin Rivers and Bradley Beal, won't make it out of the teens. But Chicago also has future picks, cash and their ace in the hole: the Charlotte Bobcats' future pick from the Tyrus Thomas trade in 2009.
Together, those assets could help the Bulls move into the top 10 and select Bradley Beal, who would provide the instant offense they need to become a title favorite.
Cleveland Cavaliers Will Draft Andre Drummond, Connecticut Center
2 of 2Cleveland is entering the Kyrie Irving era. Irving is a great player and leader, but he won't be enough to win a title.
If the Cavaliers win the lottery, they will select the consensus No. 1 pick, Anthony Davis. If they are unable to draft Davis, they will swing for the fences and select Drummond.
He has Dwight Howard upside and if he develops correctly and meshes with Irving, could be the key to ending Cleveland's title drought.
