Mayweather vs. Cotto Round by Round: Money Leads Early After Round 2

Tim KeeneyJun 7, 2018

Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto promised a lot of action coming into this one, but the first two rounds was seriously lacking.

Money May just has too much defense, and Cotto couldn't touch him in the first round.

And you can tell how much the frustration is settling in.

Mayweather, obviously fueled by knowing Justin Bieber—the Biebs came out with Money and held his title belts. Actually—was in his corner, came out with some speed that was unmatched by Cotto.

Money started the megafight by connecting on a few early jabs and Cotto just couldn't respond.

Instead, Junito, in the first round, just sat back and got picked apart by Mayweather. It was a strategy that isn't even going to come close to working.

Obviously, his corner let Cotto know that, because he came out with a lot more energy and looked to connect on more big punches.

Unfortunately, Mayweather's defense continued to win out. Cotto hasn't been able to land anything and Money has early control after the first two rounds.

And it's not looking good for the rest of the fight, either.

Cotto came out conservative in the first round and it didn't work. He came out aggressive in the second round and again, it didn't work.

It's early, but nothing is working for Cotto. Floyd Money Mayweather is just continuing to establish himself as the greatest fighter in the World.

Cotto needs to continue to be aggressive because that's his only chance, but if the first two rounds are any indication, it's not really going to matter.
