Kentucky Derby 2012 Winner: Where I'll Have Another Ranks Among Best

The 2012 Kentucky Derby winner is I'll Have Another in what was no less of a memorable race than some of the best in recent memory. But where does I'll Have Another rank among the best of all time?

It's always difficult to measure how great a horse is only after one race, but I'll Have Another will always be mentioned with the elite horses in the history of the sport with his win at Churchill Downs.

Bodemeister led for the majority of the race and I'll Have Another showed incredible patience while waiting for his chance to surge. In the end, it was a two-horse race between Bodemeister and I'll Have Another, with I'll Have Another finishing stronger and taking the victory.

There's no question this horse has a special talent to turn on the jets and surge ahead of the pack on command.

However, as great as his closing speed was, I'll Have Another didn't exactly prove he could run a wire-to-wire race like some of the greats have proven they can do throughout history.

I'll Have Another's time wasn't exactly impressive either, considering the conditions of the track.

Again, it's tough to place I'll Have Another so early after his Derby win, and without having ran the second leg of the Triple Crown, he has yet to make his place.

But after what I saw from I'll Have Another today, he's got all the goods to make a run at the Triple Crown and cement himself among the greatest horses in the history of the sport.
