Kentucky Derby 2012: Why Bodemeister Has a Strong Chance to Win Triple Crown
Bodemeister is the horse with the best chance to win the Kentucky Derby and go on a historic run toward one of the most cherished achievements in all of sports, the Triple Crown.
Bob Baffert, one of the sport's greatest trainers and three-time winner of the Kentucky Derby, has prepared another highly talented horse in Bodemeister that has a chance to make history this year.
Via the L.A. Times:
"If Bodemeister wins, the Triple Crown excitement will heighten as it always does when there isn't a major upset. And Baffert will have his fourth Kentucky Derby winner. The others, Silver Charm (1997), Real Quiet (1998) and War Emblem (2002), all went on to win the Preakness. But all lost in the Belmont.
"
Not since Big Brown in 2008 has a horse entered the Belmont Stakes with a chance to win the Triple Crown, but Bodemeister has a strong chance to duplicate that run and finish the job.
This horse has the blazing speed and endurance needed to last for long stretches of the track where a ton of energy is used up.
Unless Bodemeister suffers some sort of freak injury, I cannot imagine this horse failing to win the Derby.
Baffert will make sure that it is ready to go in the morning, and will know if anything seems wrong given his wealth of experience dealing with horses before important races.
Horse racing fans, and sports fans in general, want to see a horse win the Triple Crown. The pursuit of this achievement is so exciting and it captivates people everywhere.
Bodemeister has a great chance to make an historic run toward the Triple Crown and become the first horse to accomplish this feat since Affirmed in 1978.
