Kentucky Derby Odds 2012: Horses with Odds Too Good to Pass Up

Kyle VassaloJun 7, 2018

With a field as stacked as the Kentucky Derby's, it's tough for handicappers to pinpoint which horses have the best shot at winning it all. That opens the door wide open for bettors to strike gold by pegging the right long shot, just as those who bet on 20-1 Animal Kingdom did a year ago.

While favorites like Bodemeister and Union Rags are enticing betting options, they aren't even close to being the most enticing betting options.

Here are two horses whose odds are too good to pass on.

Daddy Nose Best

Odds: 15/1

Daddy Nose Best isn't the most heralded horse in the field and he isn't getting any love from handicappers, but the fact that he's considered a long shot is a complete joke.

This is a Steve Asmussen horse and one that is coming into this race with a full head of steam.

This horse has had an incredible spring and has taken first in three of his last four races. An across-the-board bet on Daddy Nose Best is a low-risk bet that has the potential to deliver serious rewards.

Dullahan

Odds: 8/1

A lucky draw isn't the only reason to fall in love with Dullahan. In eight starts, he's won twice, shown twice and placed twice.

For a horse with that sort of record, it's surprising to see him with pedestrian odds. While Dullahan isn't a long shot, he's certainly flying under the radar. The ideal fifth post makes the Blue Grass Stakes winner the most likable horse in the field.
