USC Football: Latest News, Injuries and Team Updates
We're only a week or two removed from spring practice, but college football never stops. There is always something going on, which means that there is always something to talk about.
USC enters the season as one of the favorites to win the national championship and return majority of their starters, making them one of the more talented teams in the country.
With a couple of months off before the season picks back up again, here is some news that you may have missed over the last couple of weeks.
Safety Su'a Cravens Will Make Decision on June 6
1 of 5USC will find out in about a month if they're going to land one of the top players of the 2013 class. His name is Su'a Cravens, and he's listed as a 5-star safety and is considered the top safety by many top recruiting sites of this year's class.
He has great size at 6'1", 205 pounds, great football instincts and has the ability to play wide receiver as well, although he'll likely stay on the defensive side of the ball.
Cravens has offers from nearly every top school in the country, but many believe that because he's from Murrieta, CA, he'll end up picking the Trojans. He says he'll make his decision on June 6, which happens to be his mother's birthday.
"There's a handful of schools where I know they're a great fit for me and I don't want to keep dragging on this process. And I don't want to hold up scholarships for other kids." Cravens said via The Los Angeles Times.
Lane Kiffin Reacts to the Passing of Junior Seau
2 of 5Former linebacker Junior Seau may be known as an All-Pro in the NFL, but before he had a fantastic career for the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots, he played for the USC Trojans. He was a first-team All-American in 1989 after finishing the year with 19 sacks.
Due to his shocking passing, head coach Lane Kiffin took some time out to address the sad news. Via ESPN:
"This is a very sad day. The USC football program and the entire Trojan Family extends our condolences to Junior's family. He was one of the greatest Trojans of all-time. Our team and fans were very fortunate to see him just a couple of weeks ago at our Spring Game at the Coliseum. He will be deeply missed.
"
USC AD Pat Haden also had some kind words for the Seau family.
"We are tremendously saddened to hear this news and our hearts go out to his family and children. Junior Seau was one of the greatest legends in USC football history. He will always be remembered by USC as the original No. 55.
