Kentucky Derby 2012 Entries: Underrated Horses with Chances of Success
The post positions for the 2012 Kentucky Derby have put several horses at an advantage and several horses at a disadvantage.
In a talented, 20-horse field this was expected to happen.
The favorites are still the favorites and the few horses behind them that were getting love are still getting love.
As race day closes in, we'll see the odds jump on a number of these horses.
Here's a look at a few underrated horses worth keeping an eye on.
I'll Have Another
This Santa Anita Derby winner is still sporting a really intriguing set of odds at 12-1, according to Sportsbook.com.
The colt has been great this year and continues to improve.
The 19th post isn't necessarily what he wanted, but he could make a move into the money and would offer a great sweetener should he hit.
Take Charge Indy
With jockey Calvin Borel riding in the saddle, anything is possible at Churchill Downs. Even better for fans of this horse, Take Charge Indy drew the No. 3 post–meaning Borel gets to run on the inside just as he loves to do.
His odds have continued to move down and he's now at 10-1 and that price will only get lower as the race creeps closer.
Sabercat
Did you even know that a horse named Sabercat was in the race? At 30-1, he offers a great price because he'll be running out of the 18 spot.
However, an outside posting isn't a terrible thing for a horse that is going to have the spurs put to it in the final furlongs.
This colt offers a great a price and depending on how things play out in front of him he could see a lane and attack into a money position when they come to wire.
