Kentucky Derby 2012 Odds: Breaking Down Contenders After Post Draw
Wednesday delivered the post draws for the 2012 Kentucky Derby, giving us an opportunity to further handicap a tightly-packed field.
The draws came with a furious pace with trainers and owners gripped in suspense. In the end, Daddy Long Legs will be tasked with the chore of starting on the post.
The real intriguing part are the bunched up contenders taking up posts four through six, making this a Derby that will have a battle from the start.
Here are the posts taken from Wednesday's drawing.
Odds taken from KentuckyDerby.info, reflect odds prior to the post draw.

Contenders
Bodemeister still has an advantage despite being grouped with some dangerous thoroughbreds at the start.
Dullhan and Union Rags will have the bigger task of asserting themselves early, making the mile-and-a-half race and exhausting proposition from the start.
The horse I am enamored with at the moment is Gemologist. The three-year old was a 7-1 contender before the draw and now holds the favorable 15 post.
He will have a sprinter in Hansen to follow around the bend, giving him some motivation for the close. But if you want a long shot, I still like Trinniberg out of the middle of the pack.
He will shoot out like a bullet and can dust the field if he can master the track and the endurance it mandates.
