Layla's Divas Championship Win and Other Things WWE Is Doing Right with Divas
The WWE Divas division is quite possibly the most criticized part of the entire company and it has been for quite some time.
For a long time, WWE has been happy letting Divas whose looks outweigh their skill prance around in the ring for short, meaningless matches.
Divas title shots seem to be handed out on a whim to whichever Diva is hot at the moment, but lately I have started to notice some changes to how WWE is handling the Divas.

The most major change is obviously the increased attention to the Divas Championship over the past month. Leading up to WrestleMania, the title seemed like it was on the back-burner, but since 'Mania we have seen several Divas matches featuring the title on the line.
The transition from Beth Phoenix to Nikki Bella to Layla could have all been due to The Bella Twins leaving and WWE wanting to throw them a bone to see if they would stay, but the attention to the title has still been there regardless of the reason.
Layla looked very good in her match with Nikki at Extreme Rules and she is known as being talented both in the ring and on the mic, something rare for a WWE Diva these days.
Besides what happens in the ring we have also seen more attention paid to the division through backstage segments and interviews.
A.J. has been in the spotlight due to her confusing relationship with Daniel Bryan, and she looks like she is dragging Kaitlyn into view too.
Eve Torres has been very involved with both shows since she got the position as executive administrator under John Laurinaitis' leadership.
Beth Phoenix has, of course, been featured due to the fact that she is basically the top Diva whether she has the belt or not.
Even though WWE has plenty more Divas, by featuring these girls heavily recently they have shown that there is some interest in making the division better.
Using the Divas with the most charisma in backstage segments and putting the most talented wrestling Divas in matches is the way WWE needs to do things in order for the whole idea of women's wrestling in WWE to be taken seriously.
Let's not forget that we also have the impending return of Kharma, someone who could create a sense of danger in the division for the first time in years.
The Divas division has been horrible for quite some time with matches shorter than the average commercial break and unconvincing or embarrassing angles.
I am not saying that the Divas division is as good as it can be, or even that great as it is, but it is getting better and WWE has the ability to make it what it once was.
When women like Jackie, Trish Stratus, Lita, Victoria, Mickie James and Molly Holly were in the division there were very competitive matches and great storylines intertwined with the men's division.
I think WWE can get back to that point if they really try to use the talent they currently have in the right way.
Thanks for reading and please feel free to share your thoughts on what could make the Divas division better below.
