John Cena: Brock Lesnar's Reported Blowup Proves WWE Needs Their Top Star

Donald WoodMay 1, 2012

After one of the most brutal main events in recent WWE history, the Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View was not the end of the show.

While John Cena was reportedly supposed to be carried out of the building on a stretcher according to the storyline, he ad-libbed his speech after the show. This is the trigger for the reported post-show tantrum the former UFC star threw.

Questions about Lesnar’s commitment to the WWE and how the actual relationship between the two enterprises would unfold after lawsuits between the two may be a bad sign moving forward.

F4Wonline.com (subscription users only) is reporting about the situation that arose after John Cena made his speech at Extreme Rules:

"

Backstage Lesnar apparently made a huge scene as he was upset at Cena's post-match speech. He felt WWE officials had double crossed him to make Cena look good and Lesnar weak. According to reports Lesnar was tearing things up and flipped out on Marc Carano who is the assistant to John Laurinaitis. Lesnar went on about how things were a mess in WWE. There is speculation that some or all of Lesnar's backstage tantrum was orchestrated by Lesnar and top WWE officials to work the rest of the roster.

"

To be perfectly honest, this better be a work or the WWE is in serious trouble. While this could become the beginning of the end for Lesnar in the WWE, what does it say about John Cena?

If this was really against what the WWE writers had planned, Cena must’ve had a good reason to get on that mic. He wouldn’t be breaking the rules that severely to pander, there had to be intention.

Cena pulled a Hulk Hogan; He took away from a storyline in order to put himself over with the crowd. That’s exactly what Hogan did for years because he was the best in the business and knew he could get away with it.

If this is all a work or just a simple attempt to get more fans to like him, then I’m fine with Cena doing his speech and Brock freaking out. If this is Cena slowly turning into Hulk Hogan, I don’t want any part of it.

Either way, the WWE proved that like it or not, John Cena is the No. 1 guy.
