Fantasy Football Sleepers 2012: Potential Late-Round Steals with Amazing Upside

Chris TrapassoJun 7, 2018

The 2012 NFL draft provided fantasy football fanatics across America some fresh offensive options that have great potential to rack up major points this fall.

You don't need to be made aware of the potential Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Trent Richardson will bring to fantasy rosters in 2012.

You're smarter than that.

How about a few guys you'll be able to grab in the later rounds that will provide that extra punch needed to beat your best friend on Sundays?

Joe Adams, WR, Carolina Panthers

I don't expect Adams to haul in a ridiculous amount of receptions in 2012, but he'll be targeted more often than you expect.

The Razorback dynamo will be the Panthers' primary bubble-screen target, and you'd have to think he's the early favorite to become the team's punt returner.

Adams is somewhat of a boom-or-bust option, but with the ability to score any time he touches the football, he'll be a nice flex option in some of the deeper leagues out there.

Marvin Jones, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

Despite falling to the fifth round, Jones is a talented receiver with a well-rounded game. He was a solid contributor for three years at California and at 6'2'' and 200 pounds, he has good size.

Stopping A.J. Green will be the focal point of opposing defenses, and fellow rookie Mohamed Sanu has a good chance to become a reliable chain-mover.

That means Jones should have plenty of room to operate down the seam against weaker cornerbacks.

Grab him late.

He'll pay off.

Danny Coale, WR, Virginia Tech

Coale is a gamer who led the Hokies with 904 receiving yards in 2011. With Laurent Robinson gone, there's a good chance Coale makes the team as the starting No. 3 receiver working out of the slot.

Dez Bryant and Miles Austin garner major attention on the outside, and Jason Witten is a terror down the seam.

Coale could benefit from all the extra attention paid to those pass-catchers.

He's a sound route-runner and knows how to get open.

Nice for points-per-reception leagues.

Coale has the potential to piece together a solid rookie season. Use him when your No. 3 wideout has a bye week or if one of your receivers isn't performing.
