Kentucky Derby Odds: Horses Who Will Benefit from Good Post Positions

Wes ODonnellJun 6, 2018

Post positions won't make or break the 138th Kentucky Derby, but they could have a significant impact upon the odds.

Tomorrow evening the post positions will be announced and the "Run for the Roses" will quickly take center stage.

Although there are a number of sporting events taking place this weekend, there is nothing like the "most exciting two minutes in all of sports" on Saturday.

Here's a look at horses you should get in on now because a good post position will spoil their odds immediately. (All odds according to Sportsbook.com)

Dullahan

Dullahan opened at 10-1 and is already down to 8-1. Considered one of the favorites in the event regardless of his odds, that number will likely move down all the way to 4-1 by race time.

He's got more than enough talent to win this race, but it won't pay anything if you don't get in on him now.

Bodemeister, Union Rags and Gemologist are still favored ahead of him, but a solid post will push him into that group.

Hansen

His number continues to sit at 14-1, but a good post will send that shooting to at least 10-1. By race day it wouldn't be shocking at all to see him in single digits.

Hansen is a horse that could take the early lead and dominate the pace of the entire race.

It certainly wouldn't be the first time a non-favorite has done just that, so jump on him now while the payout is still juicy.

Creative Cause

This guy enters the Kentucky Derby coming off a win against other horses he'll see again on Saturday.

His line has already moved from 12-1 to 11-1 and there is no telling what a favorable post will do his number when tomorrow night rolls around.

Because of his recent win, you can expect to see his number rise by race day.

I'll Have Another

A close loser to Creative Cause in the last race, I'll Have Another has a phenomenal name that will certainly draw attention on race day.

He's also a threat to win this thing and, at 15-1, comes at a great price right now.
