Troy Williams: Top Basketball Recruit Postpones Decision

Alex KayJun 7, 2018

Troy Williams has postponed his decision on where to play college basketball.

According to the recruit’s Twitter feed and accompanying picture, he “didn’t feel right waking up this morning” and believes he will make his choice later in the week.

The 6’6”, 190-pound small forward prospect has offers from a number of schools, most notably Georgetown, Kentucky and North Carolina. All signs point so far point to him choosing one of the latter two options.

Williams hails from Hampton, Va., and attends Phoebus High School. He is rated No. 6 overall in the ESPN U Super 60, No. 2 at his position in the 2013 class and No. 1 in his region and state.

It was widely expected the 5-star prospect would make his decision sometime soon, and possibly today. Now John Calipari and Roy Williams will have to wait a few more days to find out if they are going to get a letter of intent from their future swingman.

Both schools would be a great choice for the young man, as both have their advantages and disadvantages.

If Williams were to attend Kentucky, he would have a great chance of developing into a star that would boost his NBA draft stock tremendously. UNC offers a great chance of competing for a title as well. Both teams have Hall of Fame coaches who know how to develop talent.

The talented player really can’t make a bad decision, so unless something drastic changes when he wakes up and feels ready, his future will be just fine.
