WWE News: Divas Division Better off Without Untalented Bella Twins

Donald WoodMay 1, 2012

Just a few days after winning the Divas title from Beth Phoenix on Raw and losing it to Layla at Extreme Rules, the Bella Twins have been fired from the company.

It has been noted over the past few weeks that the twin divas’ contract would be up at the end of April. Those reports were confirmed by the way WWE unceremoniously fired the duo from the program.

Very similar to how it embarrassed John Morrison before allowing him to walk away.

While the twins had some very vocal fans, the WWE women’s division is better off without the untalented pair. Now may be the time for the federation to bring an emphasis back to the wrestling portion of the Divas division.

WWE’s official website is teasing the removal of the Bellas from the roster:

"

WWE.com has learned that The Bella Twins have been fired from WWE. The news comes just one day after Layla defeated Nikki Bella to capture the Divas Championship at Extreme Rules. Stay with WWE.com tonight for more details as they become available.

"

There should never be celebration over someone losing their job, but this is as mutual of a split as you can get in the wrestling world. While some fans won’t like it, this is the best way to legitimize the division.

The WWE must clean house when it comes to the Divas division, ridding itself of the non-wrestlers. If they want to keep the women on as managers, that’s fine, but don’t march them out there for terrible matches while real stars like Beth Phoenix are not displayed.

As I always do when writing about the WWE’s Divas division, I defer to Shimmer wrestling. If WWE wants to know how to properly run a WOMEN’s division (Divas is terrible), it needs to look no further than featuring stars like Beth Phoenix, Natalya or even Sara Del Rey over Alicia Fox and the rest of non-wrestlers.

Somewhere Mae Young wonders what happened to a once-proud division…
