WWE: Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena Results: Cena Regains Top-Dog Status
John Laurinaitis ticked a lot of people off when he said that Brock Lesnar was going to legitimize the WWE.
Brock Lesnar ticked John Cena off when he stepped into the ring with him. Not a good idea.
Right off the bat, it seemed as though Lesnar would use his UFC skills to overpower the smaller Cena. Lesnar busted open Cena’s skull early with a series of thunderous elbows that he undoubtedly polished during his time in the UFC.

Lesnar was clearly the stronger fighter at the beginning on the fight, but Cena battled back courageously to remain the face of the WWE.
This fight was especially brutal, one of the worst beatings that Cena has ever been handed in his entire career.
Cena almost took control of the fight early on, when he attempted his trademark F-U, but Lesnar would have none of it. Cena’s failed finisher led to Lesnar wrapping a steel chain around Cena’s ankles and eventually had him hanging upside down on the turnbuckle.
Lesnar then made a huge mistake and ripped Cena down from his precarious position, allowing Cena to briefly battle back before being launched into the stainless steel steps.
After a few referee knockouts and a Cena kickout, Lesnar brought the bottom half of the steps into the ring, eventually finding himself on his back, attempting to break Cena’s arm.
Cena defiantly rose from the dead, slamming Lesnar onto his back directly on top of the steps. Cena then tried to land a flying leg-drop off the turnbuckle but was unsuccessful, further injuring himself instead.
Then the turning point of the match arrived.
After both wrestlers tumbled out of the ring, Cena was able to wrap the same chain that once shackled his ankles around his right fist. As Cena climbed back into the ring, Lesnar went bounding off the ropes, launching himself off the steps in the center of the ring towards Cena. Cena met him with a fist-full of chain, bloodying Lesnar’s forehead.
There was no looking back for Cena after that moment, as he threw Lesnar onto his shoulders and slammed Lesnar back-first onto the steel steps, leading to a pin fall.
It would have been interesting to see if Cena could have come back from a loss had he been unable to escape with the victory, but we’ll never know.
John Cena has regained top-dog status in the WWE.
