2012 NFL Draft Grades: Broncos and Teams Still Looking to an Make Impact
It is easy to say the Oakland Raiders and New Orleans Saints are still looking to make an impact in the 2012 NFL draft because they, along with the Atlanta Falcons, didn't have picks in the first round. However, they're not the only teams waiting.
There are a few teams other teams that took themselves out of the selection process last night by trading down, and tonight is their time to shine.
Here's a look at a few teams looking to make their presence felt early on the second day.
The Broncos moved down the board twice last night for what many are calling inexplicable reasons. They picked up a second-round pick from Tampa Bay, but that is the only significant piece and it is only six spots from where they would have been last night.
Denver needs help everywhere on defense and could also stand to land more weapons for Peyton Manning.
They left a lot of valuable players on the board when they moved out of No. 25 and then again at No. 31.
As of now, the Broncos have an incomplete grade and today they need to change that.
Baltimore got out of the way for Minnesota to come back in for a safety, and now they have the opportunity to find true value in the second round.
GM Ozzie Newsome can go after some help for their defensive front seven, but should also consider taking the best player available. The Ravens hold the third pick in the second round and could see the likes of Courtney Upshaw, Jonny Martin, Reuben Randle, Cordy Glenn, Stephen Hill, Vinny Curry, Andre Branch and Peter Konz all on the board.
Look for them to change their incomplete grade with someone who can help them take the next step towards the Super Bowl immediately.
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons traded away their first-round pick this year for Julio Jones last year—it is safe to say they're happy with their investment.
They're now sitting in the second round and need to find help on both the offensive and defensive lines.
Atlanta struggled to hit opposing quarterbacks last season and were not nearly as good as they had been in years past on the ground, either.
The Falcons are expected to make their first selection of the 2012 draft at No. 55 overall.
