NFL Draft 2012 Results: Landing Spots for Round 1's Biggest Names

Breana PittsJun 7, 2018

Round one of the 2012 NFL Draft was quick, exciting and unpredictable. There were eight trades Thursday night, with 16 of the 32 picks owned by more than one team at one point in time. The first round was highlighted by movement and big picks.

The Dallas Cowboys were the biggest winners of the night. By trading into the No. 6 pick, they were able to snatch elite LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne. The Cowboys' poor secondary was instantly upgraded with the selection.

The Seahawks probably made the biggest reach of the first round, drafting troubled West Virginia defensive end Bruce Irvin at No. 15. Irvin wasn't expected to go until the second or third round.

Indianapolis, Washington, Miami and Cleveland all received makeovers at the quarterback position. While the Colts and Redskins officially welcomed top QBs Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III, respectively, the Browns shocked fans by drafting Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden. The rookie will now compete with Colt McCoy for the starting position.

The Jacksonville Jaguars swapped picks with Tampa Bay to pick up WR Justin Blackmon at No. 5.
