WWE Extreme Rules: 5 Things That Have to Happen Sunday Night
Three days away from the second PPV event in the month of April, and I'm still waiting for the buzz that needs to happen with Extreme Rules.
Can someone help me?
Extreme Rules could be one of the bigger PPV of the year, right on the heels of WrestleMania, but it could also be one of the worst, seeing that everything the WWE is trying to build on is not as dynamic with the sudden changes in the draft, the "so-so" performance of Lord Tensai and the sudden impact of Brock Lesnar that may not get the ratings the WWE desires.
Because this is a "quick" PPV in timing and many of the same feuds are still fresh in the minds of many of the WWE Universe, certain events need to happen Sunday night.
If the brands are to continue forward and gain momentum—because in terms of matches and feuds, Sheamus/Daniel Bryan and Big Show/Cody Rhodes is losing something with the crowds—change needs to happen. Or something huge needs to develop.
Here are five things that need to happen Sunday night in Chicago.
Another Member Needs to Be Added to Team Johnny
1 of 5Brock Lesnar and Lord Tensai seem to be logical fits.
But there needs to be one more. Everything happens in threes.
I believe it will be Christian, who will disrupt either the match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar, or between CM Punk and Chris Jericho.
Christian's mic skills are still awesome, and he can sell for his opponents.
Christian is an ideal choice to be part of the lead of Laurinaitis' group.
The Miz Has to Be Involved
2 of 5I say this with every PPV, but now more than ever, the WWE needs The Miz,
There are so many matches that have been predictable, if not boring. Having The Miz in the PPV will add some excitement to the brand.
Also, he is too talented to leave on the sidelines, no matter what the reason is.
Could We See Kharma?
3 of 5If we did, it would be a huge boost to the Diva's Division.
Since Beth Phoenix was injured and lost the title and the belt is in the Bella home (Nikki is the champion), is the Diva's Division in the worst state it has been in years?
There are no dominant women to challenge her (maybe Tamina), and we certainly do not want Kelly Kelly to have the strap again.
If Kharma comes out and takes the title and dominates like Beth did, it sets up for a nice battle of Glamazons when Phoenix returns from injury.
John Cena Needs to Beat Brock Lesnar
4 of 5Period.
Seeing Edge the other night was key to the motivation and possible rebirth of John Cena.
It also means he will give a great effort, but in the end probably will lose to Brock Lesnar and Lord Tensai, and John Laurinaitis will rejoice.
But I cannot see Cena losing two PPV events in a row like this unless there was some grand scheme where Cena and Punk fight the good fight at some point against Laurinaitis' stable.
CM Punk Needs to Lose in Chicago
5 of 5The reason for this is simple. Chris Jericho has no other place to go.
The battle between these two is good, but there is not another WWE Superstar, maybe with the exception of Randy Orton and Christian, who can give Jericho and the WWE fans what they want.
And like Jerry Lawler said on Raw the other night, which leads me to believe he will lose, winning the match for the WWE Title in your home town is a lot of pressure.
Based on how this unusual angle, it only seems fitting Punk drops the title in the Second City.
