Michael Pineda: Yankees Announce Star Pitcher Will Miss Rest of Season
Early returns on the trade that sent prized hitter Jesus Montero to the Seattle Mariners for the golden right arm of Michael Pineda are not paying dividends for the New York Yankees.
That would be due to the fact that Pindea's aforementioned golden arm is not quite right, and he will not be making another appearance in pinstripes this season.
The Star Ledger's Yankees beat writer, Marc Craig, tweeted the news:

Pineda had not been right all year. His mid-90s fastball was no longer in the mid-90s, and concern for the health of that arm grew as the problems persisted.
This recent development comes after Pineda was shut down just 15 pitches into an extended spring-training game, when he felt pain and weakness in the back of his right shoulder.
That was the first time he had thrown to hitters since being placed on the 15-day disabled list on March 31.
This is a big blow to the Yankees, who thought they were adding a full-time, rotation starter when they made the trade for the big 23-year-old right-hander.
