MLB Today: A Short Recap of Each Game on May 5th
Hello Bleacher Report and welcome to my first daily recap. I will be writing these every once in a while to give an up-to-date summary of every game around the majors. So without further ado, let's begin!
Dodgers vs Cubs
Chris Capuano got the job done in every way possible as he drove in two runs to go along with a stellar start. He got the win as the Dodgers continue to roll.

Phillies vs Nationals
Gio Gonzalez was once again fantastic, and a home run by Jason Werth was more than enough as the Nationals' winning streak continued in the nation's capital.

Orioles vs Red Sox
O's drop a seven spot in the third as Jason Hammel mowed through the Red Sox lineup. Baltimore didn't let up and got a well-deserved win.

Mets vs Diamondbacks
Johan Santana came in searching for his first win since 2010, and he left happy. Andres Torres continues his success, getting a pair of RBIs.

White Sox vs Tigers
After a devastating loss last night, the White Sox came in to today looking for redemption. Down to their final two outs, Adam Dunn was able to get revenge, hitting a go ahead two-run shot off Valverde to take the lead for good.

Giants vs Brewers
Giants end their skid as Bumgarner does it on the mound and at the plate, connecting with an RBI double. The Brew Crew's injury woes took a turn for the worse, as Alex Gonzalez joined the long list of injured Brewers.

Pirates vs Reds
James McDonald was phenomenal, and Neil Walker backed him up with a two-run homer as the Pirates took one from the Reds. Alex Presley also hit a home run for the Pirates.

Astros vs Cardinals
The Astros somehow continue to win as their bats explode for ten runs. Chris Johnson once again showed off his power, connecting with a grand slam. After scoring an unearned run in the first inning, the Cardinal lineup was mowed down by Bud Norris.

Rangers vs Indians
After a double by Asdrubal Cabrera tied things in the 8th, the game went to extras tied at two. However, Adrian Beltre stepped up to the plate in the 11th and changed things with one swing of the bat. He went deep, hitting the go-ahead shot.

Yankees vs Royals
After splitting the first two games of the four-game set, the Royal sent Felipe Paulino out to make his season debut against Hiroki Kuroda. Paulino certainly impressed management, carrying a NoNo for quite some time and going on to pitch 6 scoreless innings. The offense was lead by Alex Gordon and Billy Butler, going a combined 6 for 9 with 4 RBIs

Athletics vs Rays
Both teams were home run happy, connecting with a combined 5 homers in this extra-inning affair. Gomes hit the game-winning shot in the 12th to seal the deal and hand the Rays a rare loss.

Braves vs Rockies
After jumping out to an early 6-0 lead, partly due to a first-inning grand slam by Cuddyer, Jamie Moyer couldn't hold it. The Braves rallied back and went on to win 12-9.

Marlins vs Padres
In a matchup between two last-place teams, Mark Buehrle went all nine innings, allowing just one run on five hits. Giancarlo Stanton had a solo homer and Greg Dobbs drove in the go-ahead run as the Marlins won 4 to 1.

Blue Jays vs Angels
Despite being without the slumping Albert Pujols, the Angels were lead by C.J. Wilson against the Jays. Wilson dominated a strong Toronto lineup, going 8 innings and allowing just 2 earned runs. Mark Trumbo and Mike Trout each added in homers as the Angels won 6-2.

Mariners vs Twins
After a scoreless game through 5 1/2 innings, the Mariners dropped a two spot in the 6th and scored five in the 7th. King Felix was his usual self, going 8 innings and allowing just one hit the entire time.

Position Player of the Night: Adrian Beltre. After sitting through ten innings, Beltre as called in to pinch hit in a big situation during the 11th inning. He certainly came through, smacking a 3-Run bomb to take the lead for good.
Pitcher of the Night: Felix Hernandez. Facing off against a pretty stacked Twins lineup, Felix went to work. He was extremely successful, giving up just one hit and getting the win.
