Kentucky Wildcats Basketball: Amile Jefferson Would Put Kentucky Back on Top

Amile Jefferson is a highly-coveted prep star that would put the Kentucky Wildcats over the top and well above any other basketball program in the nation. 

It seems ridiculous to think that John Calipari may again pull off a magical recruitment job and nab a contender away from every other big-time program. 

At this point, we have to acknowledge the obvious point that the Wildcats are not far and away the favorites to land Jefferson.

In fact, Duke has a much better chance of landing the lanky forward with a great shot and tremendous promise on offense.

The Duke Report issued last week stated that NC State joins the Blue Devils as the favorites to land one of the best remaining undecideds in the nation.  

Kentucky is the more intriguing possibility considering the mass exodus they just suffered followed by the fine infusion of talent that followed. 

In the blink of an eye, Kentucky has gone from champion to contender, and they have done so with ease, adding top recruits like Nerlens Noel, Alex Poythress and Archie Goodwin. 

That kind of talent would be a dream to play alongside, but it's the tandem of Noel and Jefferson that really piques my interest. 

I have no doubt that a stint at Duke would put polish on Jefferson's game, especially on the defensive side of the ball. 

With Kentucky, he would fit in perfectly along a more dominant defensive player in Noel. 

While Jefferson may not be the defensive juggernaut that Noel may be, he can change shots and block them efficiently, making Kentucky a beast down low. 

Jefferson may choose another route, but the one that features a great shot at national glory rests with the Kentucky Wildcats.
