Picking One Disney Movie That Describes Each NBA Title Contender
It's always fun to make pop culture references to our favorite sports teams, even more so this time of year when the postseason is drawing near and squads are making their run at the title.
In the following slides, I took the top four contenders in each conference and compare them to a Disney movie.
This piece is just for fun, and I'd love to hear comments or your own comparisons after reading.

Chicago Bulls: The Rescuers
1 of 8Following the Michael Jordan era, Chicago struggled, after being seemingly "abandoned," in a sense, by its superstar.
Several years passed, but Bulls fans remained loyal and positive as they waited for the player that would resurrect their franchise.
Chicago's very own Rescuers came in the form of Carlos Boozer, Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.
Miami Heat: The Lion King
2 of 8When LeBron James "took his talents" to Miami in 2010, he was ready to be king.
He wanted to be king.
However, his "brother" Dwyane Wade had been with the Heat since his rookie year and was the rightful leader of the pack.
Although Wade and James [quite literally] play for the same team, James takes it upon himself to be the hero and be seen by everyone as the King of the Jungle (otherwise known as South Beach).
Although both are amazing athletes, Wade proves to be the more well-rounded teammate. In a clutch situation, I'd take Wade every time.
Miami fans sometimes learn the hard way—when James finds it necessary to be holding all the cards, everyone else in the city loses.
Indiana Pacers: Cinderella
3 of 8This one's pretty self explanatory.
I don't think anyone expected the lowly Indiana Pacers to be at the big dance, but it's happening before our eyes. Danny Granger and his team are making an appearance in the 2011-12 postseason.
Hopefully, the clock won't strike midnight too early for Indiana. If the slipper fits, the Pacers could find themselves taking home the title for the first time in franchise history.
Boston Celtics: The Three Caballeros
4 of 8Produced in 1944, The Three Caballeros followed the adventures of three friends across different countries and experiences.
Current Boston Celtics fans follow their own caballeros, "The Big Three," through the ups and downs of the storied franchise as they balance several big-name veterans.
San Antonio Spurs: Fantasia
5 of 8Just like Mickey Mouse is an icon of Disney, I view Tim Duncan and the entire Spurs franchise as faces of the NBA.
Walt Disney took a myriad of different music scores, characters and animation and compiled them to create the classic Fantasia production still loved today.
San Antonio definitely holds a handful of "classics" in Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker. Their team has held fairly consistently over the past few years, and this season, their record is stronger than ever.
The Spurs roster only becomes better and more complex with age, and their franchise will be storied for years to come.
Oklahoma City: Aladdin
6 of 8Oklahoma City was a collection of average athletes that showed potential but no real direction. Although the desire was there, a title wouldn't be possible without an additional factor.
Enter Kevin Durant.
Night after night, Durant brings the magic to OKC, and he creates team chemistry, point totals and victories that were unprecedented in franchise history.
L.A. Lakers: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
7 of 8The L.A. Lakers squad certainly contains a mishmash of personalities, and new head coach Mike Brown has stepped in and done a great job teaching them to work together.
Here is my list of the famous Seven Dwarfs and their Laker player comparisons.
Doc — Kobe Bryant
Grumpy — Matt Barnes
Sleepy — Pau Gasol
Dopey — Andrew Bynum
Sneezy — Devin Ebanks
Happy — Metta World Peace
Bashful — Ramon Sessions
L.A. Clippers: Beauty and the Beast
8 of 8Call me cliche, but I consider the current L.A. Clippers' story a definite fairy tale.
In contrast to their same-city rivals, the Clippers found themselves under the Small Market Curse. Even with All-Star Blake Griffin, L.A. was missing a crucial piece.
With this year's addition of Chris Paul, the perfect match has been found, and the curse has been lifted.
