Nerlens Noel: Kentucky Is Best Fit for 5-Star Recruit

Nerlens Noel only has to look at what John Calipari did with Anthony Davis last season at Kentucky to know where he should sign.

Noel is a similar prospect to Davis. He's explosive around the rim and blocks everything in sight. Even his dimensions (6'10", 215 pounds) are nearly identical to those of Davis.

Noel wrote of Kentucky on Tuesday, via ESPN:

"

Of course they’re coming off the national championship, but I’d look more at how I’d be able to fit in and how I’d be used there. I’d factor in what my role would be offensively, like Anthony Davis with a lot of lobs and catching it at the high post and things like that. Defensively, I think it’ll take care of itself.

"

As Noel nears his decision tonight (7:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU), he's narrowed his list down to three schools: Kentucky, Syracuse and Georgetown. Kentucky and Syracuse had the better campaigns last season, but Georgetown is known for developing its big men into stars.

But really, all Noel has to look at is how he will be developed offensively and the opportunities he will have to score at the rim. Like he said, he shouldn't have a problem defensively at the next level.

In that regard, what better place is there than Kentucky? Calipari showed he can work well with big men like Davis, and Noel fits a similar mold. Don't tell me Noel wasn't imagining himself in the low post while he was watching the national championship game.

It's going to be interesting if Marquis Teague stays at Kentucky or not. With him on board, that should make Noel's decision even easier. Teague developed exponentially as a freshman this past season.

But Noel has the opportunity to be the heir to Davis, and that's an opportunity that's hard to pass up.
