Nike NFL Uniforms: Best and Worst Jerseys of the 2012 Season

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

Nike released the look of the new NFL on Tuesday, and there were clear winners and losers.

Much has been made about how little there was to report from the most hyped fashion story to hit sports in some time.

We knew that there wouldn't be a great deal of change. The last thing Nike wants to do is enrage every last fanbase, and the quickest way to do that is destroy the classic looks of some storied franchises.

However, there were enough tweaks and changes to gives us a best and worst of the day in fashion football.

From one lime-green spectrum to a menacing purple of the other, we have you covered on the best and worst of the NFL in 2012, from a swagger point of view of course.

Pics Taken from Nike Facebook page.

5. Worst: Arizona Cardinals

1 of 10

Not a whole lot to see here, except for the team keeping the awful red-on-red.

The collar is a tad more streamlined with mere striping around, but this is a team that was in desperate need of a better use of color.

5. Best: Buffalo Bills

2 of 10

Stripes are more horizontal, and a uniform that was just a tweak or two from being a real winner last year finally gets a touch-up.

The Bills look slick in these jerseys.

4. Worst: Houston Texans

3 of 10

The Texans didn't change much, but what they did do, they did it big.

I guess that works with Texas' sensibilities, but the red around the collar is a lot bigger than I remember and it just doesn't work for me. We are going for sleek here, people.

4. Best: Cincinnati Bengals

4 of 10

The Bengals uniforms were always a tad on the "overdoing it" side of things. The stripes work for me much better in this incarnation, and a good amount of that has to do with the leg striping coming towards the front of the leg.

It just works better and sells the overall look. It may be nitpicking, but a great jersey just got better.

3. Worst: Minnesota Vikings

5 of 10

This comes down to teams that really could use a makeover in a big way. There aren't huge changes in the Vikings unis, and that is a very bad thing.

3. Best: Chicago Bears

6 of 10

The stripes get more love, and this storied franchise looks both old-school and modern.

There is a very real danger of getting a little heavy-handed with stripes and trim, but the Bears jerseys work tremendously well and just fit this hard-hitting team.

2. Worst: Jacksonville Jaguars

7 of 10

Hooray for mediocre.

The Jaguars keep the same tired teal, making the Jaguars logo look more depressed than angry. I still want to see the trim take a hike as well.

2. Best: Baltimore Ravens

8 of 10

Black on purple never looked so good. I have always liked the Ravens uniforms and thought they never received enough credit for making purple look classy.

There is added black on the collar, which should stand out all the more on a bright day. The Nike sleek look works wonders with this menacing jersey.

1. Worst: Seattle Seahawks

9 of 10

You knew they would be featured on this list, so don't act surprised.

They had the biggest change of any team, but managed to keep all the worst parts of earlier iterations. The depressing blue on blue is back, and they managed to stick some of the awful lime green on it as well.

The good news is that these are some polarizing uniforms. While I hate them, I am sure there are those that can't wait to buy some replicas.

1. Best: Denver Broncos

10 of 10

Here are the Denver Broncos uniforms, and they are rocking the alternate orange with a blue trim along the side.

This is how you rock a blue trim, Jaguars.

This is a smart change, and one that makes the Broncos look sleeker and faster, which will complement all the Peyton Manning touchdowns nicely.
