Brock Lesnar: Feud with John Cena Will Be Perfect Return to WWE

Tim DanielsJun 7, 2018

There aren't many WWE superstars who deserve an immediate push after eight years away from the company, but Brock Lesnar is one of them. By sending him into an immediate storyline with John Cena, it sets him up for long-term success.

Lesnar was built into a dominant force during his first run with the company. He remained prominent during his time with UFC despite dropping his final two fights. Staying in the spotlight allowed the former UFC Heavyweight champion to return to much fanfare on Monday night.

The Raw crowd, which was one of the best in recent memory, was chanting his name before he even came out. That proved he didn't need any squash matches or an extended buildup before returning to the main-event scene. He's ready.

Even though Cena lost to The Rock at WrestleMania, he's still one of the company's biggest stars and the battle between two powerhouses should be an entertaining storyline. Could Lesnar finally be the one who gets Cena to change his ways? It's certainly possible.

More importantly, Lesnar will help fill the void that usually develops after the year's biggest event. The WWE seems to be making a huge effort to ensure that doesn't happen this time around with several debuts.

None of them are bigger than Lesnar's, though. He should build on his fan-favorite status while going against Cena, who has developed into the most hated character in a long time. A feud with him provides a boost to Lesnar, no matter whether he comes out on top or not.

With Lesnar and Cena along with CM Punk and Chris Jericho, the drop-off over the next few months should be minimal. You have to give credit to Vince McMahon for convincing so many former stars to return to give the WWE a boost.

Apparently, the fans voicing their displeasure about the stagnant top of the card paid off. Between new faces like Punk and Daniel Bryan rising late last year and the return of Rocky and Lesnar, things are finally getting a complete makeover.

If Lesnar stays with the company for the long haul, he has the potential to become its biggest star. He has a strong fanbase to begin with and it should only continue to grow throughout the summer.

The possibilities are endless. Whether it's a battle with The Rock or The Undertaker at next year's WrestleMania, Lesnar gives the creative team plenty of options.

Giving Cena another beatdown would be an awesome start to his comeback run.
