Wrestlemania 28: Undertaker Must Fight On After Memorable Match

Eric BallJun 7, 2018

Holy crap, was the Undertaker impressive Sunday night at WrestleMania.

I was chalk full of skepticism that the 47-year-old could make his Hell in a Cell match against Triple H a memorable one. How could a man that has dealt with so many back issues and other various injuries in the past still compete a such a high level after all these years?

Well, Undertaker ended up putting on one heck of a show, and it left me wanting more. Both men left the ring with a plethora of bruises and cuts, showing the pain tolerance they both hold. It was an old-school event between two men that were simply out to prove they were the best. You don’t see that kind of intensity and energy in today’s WWE, and it’s sorely missed.  At the end of the match, it was only fitting to watch the two hug and bask in the incredible ovation of the 78,000-plus fans in Miami.

The legend who’s been involved with the sport since the early 1990s is iconic, and the powers that be in the WWE universe should not retire him at 20-0.

End of an era? Let’s hope it’s just another chapter in the career of one of the greatest and most memorable wrestlers ever to grace WWE.

Obviously, he is past the point of having to travel on the road for Monday Night Raw every week. Maybe he should even be shelved until this time next year. But the WWE needs the Taker; they need his legendary intro music, his cool costumes and his persona.

The new generation of WWE is underwhelming, to say the least. It’s CM Punk and a bunch of jebronies. Keep the legend around and let him get a crack at 21-0 to ensure the nostalgic feel of WrestleMania stays intact. Another bout against Triple H would be a bit stale, but I seriously doubt fans would oppose yet another rematch after seeing the overwhelming positive response on Sunday.

It was the most memorable match of WrestleMania 28…why can’t it be the most memorable of WrestleMania 29 as well?

Here’s to hoping we haven’t actually seen the end of an era.
