WrestleMania 28 Results: CM Punk's Win Solidifies Status as Best in the WWE

If WrestleMania taught us one thing it’s that there is no better wrestler on the planet right now than CM Punk.

The feud between Punk and Chris Jericho was masterfully built up, and the match was certainly one of the main highlights of the night.

The action was intense from the get-go, as you could feel the hate between the two. Jericho made it personal and Punk was out for blood to shut him up. The feud was built up tremendously and it made for one memorable match.

Until Punk dropped Jericho once and for all with the Anaconda Vice, I thought Y2K was going to take home the win.

It was a match that was a brilliant mix of a technical masterpiece and a brawl. The fans were beside themselves with raw excitement. Jericho, one of the greatest wrestlers in the history of WWE, gave it his all and it wasn’t enough.

That’s the biggest sign yet that Punk is the new face of the sport.

His unbelievable ring skills on top of impeccable mic work make him incredibly appealing. Charisma and passion put him over the top.

Punk retained his championship belt and title of “best in the world” and it makes you wonder what’s next for the superstar.

Will the feud with Jericho continue? Will a John Cena heel turn pit him as the villain vs. Punk? He has reached a certain upper echelon in the sport where a crappy, half-hearted feud with a guy like Daniel Bryan doesn’t cut it anymore.

Punk is in a different class now and the creative team has to cook up something big.

Punk is at that point with his fan base where run-of-the-mill feuds aren’t enough. He, along with Cena, are the most popular wrestlers in the sport and a feud between the two is the only logical move at this point to satisfy their respective fan bases.

In 2012, Punk is the WWE and WrestleMania was a reminder.
